IN A DARK PLACE

Chapter 7

Once we got to the restaurant we immediately got a seat. it wasn't pack which is good just incase I end up crying. My mom suggested we eat first before she ruin my appetite.

"you not about to starve my grand child." she said

"Mom you scaring me just tell me." I said taking a sip of my drink. She didn't listen to me and kept making small talks. 

"ok mom I'm done eating." I said when the waiter took our dirty plates and took our order for dessert "what is this big secret" I asked once the lady was gone

"Ok I have one good news and two bad news" I held my breath and waited for her to finish saying what I already knew. " Ms. Winton is dead" ok I didn't know that

"WHAAATTT" I yelled. Ms. Winton is the super rich 80 year old lady my mom work for. She had a stroke and haven't been able to care for herself. My mom has been her nurse for 5 years now. Ms. Winton is the reason we are in the house we are in right now. she pay my mom more than she supposed to. I mean like thousands more than she is supposed to. She fell in love with my mom the minute she saw her so did her family, I've meet all of them, and its like my mom have another family. Very nice white people. "when was this"

" The week we came back from the hospital."

"Oh my god why didn't you tell me sooner how did she die?" I asked with tears now rolling down my cheeks

"Well you wasn't really feeling well. She died in her sleep, but that's not all I have to tell you. Her son Michial asked me to come to work yesterday, you know to help out with packing all her things. so while going threw her things I got really emotional and started crying. Its so unreal that she's gone." She paused to wipe her tears before continuing "I guess him and his sisters heard me crying, they came and consulted me and all that I explained why I was crying. I spend so many hours in that house with her I can't believe I wont be able to see her again. after we cried together they left and I continued what I was doing. when I was done I was heading out when they stopped me. Michial said they talked about it and decided to give me the house"

" WHAT, what house"

"Ms. Winston's house. They were thinking about selling it because they were never there it was always just she and I. and they all have their own houses so they didn't see the need to keep her house empty. So since it means so much to me I could have it." I was completely lost for words. Now I see why she wanted me to eat cause I felt completely numb. I didn't know whether to be happy or continue to cry

"that's not all" She said. I had to lean back on my chair cause I don't know what else she could have to say at this moment. "So today when I went to get my last check from them they were having a meeting with their lawyer, all her kids was there. I was very confused when the lawyer asked me to have a seat. At first I didn't know what was going on until he started reading the paper in his hand, than realized he was reading her will." She stopped when the waiter came with our desert, which I wish she had brought earlier cause I don't think I can eat anything right now.

Once the lady left my mom continued "so he read everybody's names and told them what she left for them. You know how it works, she left enough for everybody I could tell everybody was very happy with what they were left with. You know she and her husband owned a lot of different business. I never really got into what those businesses was. All i knew was they own about 10 resturant around country and a few hotels, after today I realized there is a lot more. super rich family. I just sat there wondering why did I have to sit around for that. Than he called my name. Again I was confused cause why would she leave me anything. I decided after what the kids did, giving me the house if she leave me anything that have to do with her company I will defiantly sell it to them. But she didn't leave me a company she left me money"
