Chapter Sixteen

~Michael's POV~

I watched the scenery passing us by, air conditioning set low, and nodding my head to the music. We were on our way to the hotel, maybe another hour and a half. But there was still a detour we needed to make and I still hadn't said anything about it. Liam was driving, looking forward and calmly assessing the roads. I wanted to laugh a little bit because he was such a cheesy hopeless romantic, yet he was very calculating and logically driven most of the time. Now was one of those times. But still, it made me smile.

Huffing out a breath I lowered the music, "I'm bored."

Liam chuckled. "Well, I don't know how much I can help you with that."

"Twenty questions?" I asked.

"Hmm, yeah sure. Which version?"

I blinked, "Huh?"

Liam laughed, "The traditional version of Twenty Questions was to think of something like an object or a subject and then have everyone else ask twenty questions – all together – and the person would respond with either a yes or no. Or we could do it the lame version and just flip flop asking each other random questions and we both answer them." He was smirking now.

I pouted just a little bit, but I now saw the appeal of knowledge being sexy. Because wow, Liam when he talks factual and all knowing with a smirk on his face? Yeah, I might have to have him pull this car over.

"It's not lame, but yes we're playing the 'lame' version."

"Okay fine. What's your favorite color? Mine is green, like the color of your eyes."

I felt my cheeks heat up, "Oh my god, Liam. You're such a dork." He smiled. "My favorite color is blue. What's your favorite food? I have a thing for pasta, like any type of pasta."

"Hmm, I guess I would have to go with ... my mom's spaghetti. Or her homemade chocolate cake. Yeah, definitely the cake. Um, Lets see. Do you like hardcover or paperback books?"

"Probably paperback. I just like them better for some reason."

"Really? I like hardcover, because they're easier to keep in my backpack. I'm always worried that paperback books will get torn up in there."

I laughed internally. Of course he would like hardcover. I tried not to make a joke about it and simply said, "Well, yeah. That's true. What would you say is your spirit animal?"

"My spirit animal? Geez, I don't fucking know."

I was quiet for a little bit, "I think you would be a elephant."

"What!?" Liam said laughing.

"Well they're intelligent and caring, and they have good memories." I shrugged, "I think it fits."

Liam was smiling, "Then you must be a little kitten." I felt my cheeks heat up a little at the way he said that, "You're playful and cute and fluffy. But you also give no fucks most of the time. You're also intelligent and proud, and beautiful. Plus, you know, that one time you climbed all over me like a kitten."

"I did not."

"You did."

"Next question."

"What's your favorite time of the year?"

I paused for a moment, thinking about it. A lot of mixed feelings were produced, but I thought of Aidan and I thought of Liam and I smiled a little bit, "Summer. I think I make some of the best memories then."
