Chapter 7 (Dinner time)

After getting off the phone with Mom and having a good laugh with Connor it wasn't long before we got to my house and Mom was standing on the front porch as if she had been standing there the whole time waiting on us to get there.

Once there Connor pulled up under the shed and we got out so we could unhook the car from the bed of the tow truck. We both got on the back and unhooked her then Connor and I jumped down so he could lower the back so she could roll off the back.

"Is the timing chain the only thing that's wrong with her?" Mom asked.

"Yea, but we got the part to fix it." Connor said.

"Connor got the part to fix it." I said as he turned to me as I smiled at him before heading inside to change out of my good clothes so I could work on her and get her fixed before school tomorrow.

Once inside I ran up to my room to get changed. I changed into a pair of my old denim blue jeans and a old oil stained shirt on then placed my hair up in a bun and threw on a pair of my old sneakers before going back down stairs.

"Hey honey tenderize the steaks before going out to work on your car." Mom said as I nodded.

"Ok, I guess I could do that." I said heading into the kitchen behind her.

"Hey Connor you want a cup of coffee honey?" Mom asked looking at Connor who was sitting at the kitchen bar.

"Sure that would be great." Connor said as I took out the steaks and took them out of the package and stood there and thought of how I would fix them and what type of seasonings I would use. Then I walked out of back door to my car and found my Jack Daniels that I didn't finish from the night before then came back in and started to work tenderizing the meat.

"Hey where the hell did that come from?" Lila asked looking at the bottle of Jack.

"No where." I said opening the bottle and poured me a shot and downed it before taking another shot and putting it in my seasoning bowl then Lila took it and took a shot.

"Don't drink it all it's mine." I said looking at her.

"Hey where did you get that Bobby?" Mom asked.

"From the getting place." I said putting a little of this and a little of that in the mixing bowl.

"How much did you put into the mix?"Mom asked.

"Not much just a shot to give it that tangy flavor." I said. "Not enough to get a fly drunk." I said as I started to beat the steaks then poured the seasoning on them then mushed it in then place the steaks into a closed container and placed it in the fridge. "Ok it's done now can I go work on my car please?" I asked.

"Yep, go ahead dear." Mom said popping me on the butt as I walked out the back door to get to my baby.

Connor's POV

I sat at the Kitchen bar and waited for the coffee to get done. I wondered if Bobby needed help fixing the car but she said she could do it so I didn't want to bother her.

"So what do you think?" Cyn asked as she handed me my coffee.

"Think about what?" I asked taking a sip and smiled at her since she remembered how I liked my coffee.

"Do you think there is help for her?" Cyn asked pulling up a stool across from me.

"She seems like a smart young woman but very independent though that's going to hurt her in the long run." I said.
