When You Realise It's Real

Chapter 9

Everyone was seperated.

Jesse's minecart was in front of me,but I couldn't hear or see anyone else.

Great.

"Axel?!Olivia?!Lukas?!Reuben?!"Jesse called.

"The paths will come together some time.They have to."I murmured.

"Right."Jesse agreed.

I gave a small sigh,thinking about Rory.He would totally brighten up this place.

Well,brighter than the lava made it,anyway.

Jesse turned around and gave me a look of pity.

"Just thinking of lost friends.Well...lost friend,anyway."I said.

"Sorry about Rory.He seems like a loyal friend."

"So does Petra."

There was more silence,then squealing echoed around.Reuben.

"Reuben?"Jesse whispered.

The squealing got louder,then Reuben's minecart was next to ours.He was dodging a skeleton's arrows.

"Hey!"Jesse shouted.

The skeleton turned to her,but she knocked it into the lava easily.

Reuben squealed with delight,then jumped into Jesse's minecart.

"Hey,boy."Jesse smiled."You okay?"

She petted Reuben,and I was jealous that she had an animal companion.My parents didn't care enough the get one.

Then I remembered the three Ghasts that would-oh crap!

"JESSE!"I shrieked.

Jesse turned around and gasped,forcing Reuben to get down.I swung my sword,it connected with a fireball and hit the Ghast that sent it.

Then two more appeared.

"Oh gosh.WHY SO MANY?!WHY!?"I shouted.

"We seem to be the centre of bad luck!"Jesse added.

One of the fireballs went past me,and Jesse hit it sideways.I hit the next one that killed the middle Ghast.

Hah,being inside the game was a lot more terrifying than you might think.

I hit the next one,and it hit the Ghast to the left.That was suprising.But then again,in the game,the fireballs just went straight to the Ghast.

I killed the next Ghast,then turned my attention to the last.Reuben wasn't sounding so scared.

With two swings of my sword,the fireballs returned to sender and the Ghast died.

"Okay,we're good..."I huffed.

That was until I remembered that huge ramp.

It was a forest.Birds were singing.Flowers were blooming.The sun was shining.

A redish tabby cat slunk through the forest,her pelt thin.Her dark blue eyes scanned the undergrowth.

She looked around,her eyes widening,but she relaxed when a yellow tom appeared.

"Any sign of Falconpaw?"The tom meowed.

"No.But that's good,right?"The she-cat whispered."No sign of Wolfpaw,either."

The tom nodded,and the duo continued.Their heads whisked around at every sound.

The redish tabby sighed.

"You know,sometimed I miss home."She whispered.

The tom pricked up his ears."ThunderClan camp?Why?"

"No,I mean...before.I miss my dog.I miss my parents.I miss being Jesse Blackwood.I miss Tessa."

"But Tessa is right here."

"No,no...we're different here.I'm not Jesse anymore.I'm Foxpaw.You're not Drake,you're Runningpaw.Tessa is Frostpaw.Willow is Wolfpaw.Lex is Falconpaw."

"...Okay...let's keep going..."

I yelped as we flew through the air.Jesse screamed.The Ghast did nothing.

Then we landed with a thump.Just behind everyone else.

I wheezed.I'd just remembered to breathe.Too much of a rollercoaster.

"Is...is everyone okay?"Jesse asked.

"Well,I'm not dead."Axel huffed.

"Ditto.Ditto on the not dead."Olivia agreed.

"I can't believe Petra comes down here all the time.This place is horrible."Lukas whimpered.

Jesse looked back at me.Reuben oinked softly.

"C-could be worse..."I shrugged like it was no big deal.

The redish tabby,Foxpaw,was talking to a white she-cat with green eyes.

This was Frostpaw.

"Wasn't there...dissapearances before us?Maybe they're connected to us...coming here."Foxpaw wondered.

"Hmm..."Frostpaw closed her eyes.When she opened them,they had a certain glint to them."The time comes for those of blue.Risen from the ashes,born anew."

"Can you throw up,like, inside your body?"Jesse asked.

"Yeah,becuase I just did.Like,five times."Olivia answered.

We were close to the surface now.We climbed up and up,and then we saw the portal.

"This must lead to the surface!"Axel exclaimed,bounding over to the entrance."I'm going first!"

He was beaming,and he stepped towards the purple stuff.The essence of the portal.

"Wait."Jesse warned."We don't know what's up there."

Axel hesitated,but didn't turn around.

Are you going to the hanging tree,Axel?

Becuase no matter what we do,there will be death.

"Maybe the Witherstorm is up there."Lukas guessed.

"Uh...well...I'm still going first."

Then Axel didn't move.

"I'm going."

"Just getting my breath."

"Making sure I have all my stuff..."

"I'll just go."I interrupted.

Axel started to protest,but I pushed past him and the purple portal embraced me.
