When You Realise It's Real

Chapter 12

The wind was harsh.The signs of leaf-bare were closing in.

Foxspirit ran over the fields.Her redish tabby fur was bushed-out.

She was chasing her friend.Frostpaw's white pelt was up ahead.

"Frostpaw!"Foxspirit called."What's going on?"

"Everything is connected,my friend!"Frostpaw yowled over the wind.

"What do you mean?"

"There are others.The ones before us,they are in another dimension.The ones after us,they are also in other dimensions."

Foxspirit reached the white she-cat,her cat face a mask of confusion.

"Where do the stairs go?"

"Up."

"Jesse!"

Olivia gave Jesse a friendly push.

"We can be smart-mouthed later."Lukas said.

I sniggered,then covered it with a cough.

Hm...not convincing.

We went up the stairs,and for once I felt a tiny bit safe.Just a tiny bit.But I knew that wouldn't last.You wouldn't feel safe either,with a hungry Witherstorm on a rampage.

We got to the top.Sunlight would fade soon,it was almost sunset.

"...so...what now?"Olivia asked.

"Gabriel said that this Amulet would help us find the other members of the Order."Jesse showed everyone the Amulet.

I walked over to those redstone lamps.These would make that light,then we'd put the Amulet in it's little spot...

"Well,Jesse,hold it up.Something might happen."I heard Axel say.

I tried to remember which redstone lamps would do the job.I wasn't sure.

"Maybe we need to do something?"Lukas guessed.

"We should split up and look for clues."Jesse advised.

Why can't my brain remember things when I want it to?! I cursed at my brain.At least it kept me alive.

...Would my brain be blocky here?Did we even have brains?!

Random thought right there.Absolutely amazing.Note the sarcasm.

"What'cha doing?"

When I get interrupted when in thought,I usually get startled.But it was only Jesse.

"Trying to figure out these lamps.Why would someone leave random lamps here?"I pointed out.

Jesse made a 'hmm' sound and flipped one of the switches.

Does everyone remember those lights?One blue,one grey,one green,one red,one light blue?

Well,two of those lights lit up.Then my brain decided that it knew what the next one was.

A little late,brain.

I flipped one of the redstone lamp's levers,then all of the lights were lit.I hit the switch for the middle one.

"Who are they?"

"Do you know what's going on?"

"What is going on?"

"Frostpaw...?"

Five cats huddled around a pool reflecting moonlight.
