I've never been in a police station before, never wanted to either but I guess things change given the circumstances.
"Would you like a drink hun?" I look up to see a kind looking elderly lady standing in front of me. "And why in lords name are you in handcuffs?" she adds looking down at my hands that were in my lap.
"They said I could be dangerous," I shrug in explanation. The lady looks to be around her late fifties maybe with short white hair and kind green eyes. I can't help but notice that she's in uniform, which makes me wonder why she's so nice towards me.
"You and dangerous in the same sentence?" I nod my head. "Honey, I don't think you could even hurt a fly," she says smiling. I agree with her there, I don't like hurting things if I can help it.
"Are you a cop?" I ask watching her carefully as she sits down in the seat beside me. The lady laughs as she shakes her head.
"Oh goodness no, I'm just the office person who sits in a chair all day and takes calls," she explains pointing to the big front desk in front of the double doors. "So why is a young girl like you doing here in a police station?" I sigh as I look down at the handcuffs on me, they were starting to hurt my wrists.
"It's a long story but basically I was the first person on my murdered parents scene," I tell her.
"Oh honey, I'm so sorry about your parents," she says taking my hands in hers. I hear the annoying noise of the handcuffs rubbing together. The tears start falling as the lady beside me wraps her arms around me while saying soothing words into my ear. I don't want to believe it, my parents can't be dead.. they just can't. We stay like that for a while until we hear someone clear their throat above us.
"We're ready to begin."

"What's your name kid? and this time be honest!"
We've been in the questioning room around half an hour, going through the same questions and neither of the two officers in front believed me.
"I've already told you guys a million times, my name is Ave Johnston." I flinch as guy one slams his chubby hands onto the desk in front of me.
"No you're bloody not!" he says and I swear I start to see smoke pouring from his ears, I gulp but stay strong.
"Yes I am!" I see something move in the corner of my left eye so I turn my head to see guy two pick up a folder and walk over to us.
"No you're not, you see.." he says dropping the folder onto the table. "Ben and April never had a daughter, April couldn't have kids." I stare at him as I try to let what he's said sink in.
"But I am their daughter, she had me.." I tell them.
"Have you taken anything this afternoon or tonight?" guy one asks. I shake my head, I don't take drugs.
"How about you go and get us a drink Tom," guy two says basically shooing the other out the door. Guy one mumbled but did as he was told, when he left guy two sat down opposite me.
"Listen I know Tom can be scary but he's gone now okay, you can tell me the truth kid." I blink as I stare at him, I've been telling the truth the whole time. I glance across at his name name tag.
"James, I've been telling you the truth. I am their daughter, and I haven't taken anything," I tell him trying to make him believe me. I look down at the handcuffs still around my wrists, James sighs.
"Okay." I look up at him. "Let's just say that you're telling the truth, and you.."
"I am."
"And you are their daughter, you're still not in the database and there's no pictures of you.."
