                                                                       Chapter 5: Earth

 Food.

There was food everywhere Devi looked. She was sitting at the dinning table, the dark teal walls were decorated with more portraits and  the table cloth was a large velvet teal color, Devi sat on the right side and her mother right across her. Lilly was in a highchair eating away her cereal. The table was covered with fruits, bread, ham, eggs, and any breakfast Dev could think of. Her grandfather was sitting at her side. He looked at Dev and her mother again.

"I didn't know what you guys liked for breakfast so I just asked the servants prepare everything," he began picking up a plate of ham and eggs to put on his plate.

"There was no need for that, we usually skip breakfast," Dev's mother said. Of course they did, there was never enough food for breakfast, Dev usually got free breakfast at school and that's what she ate.

"Well there will never be no need to skip breakfast for all three of you," Dev reached for the fruits and yogurt.

"I see your just like your father, he always preferred fruits over meat." Dev looked down and smiled.

"I have told her the same thing," Angela agreed.

"Grandfather, I have a question," Dev had remembered what Han said about the elders about being careful with them and how they had hurt Amethyst and now Dev wonder if she could trust her grandfather.

  "Ask away."

"Did you agree on the punishment of Amethyst Wildfire?" Her grandfather dropped his fork on the plate and swallowed the piece of ham he was chewing.

"Where did this question come from?"

"Many demon hunters doubt in the elders now, so can I actually trust you?"

"Straightforward too just like him," her grandfather chuckled and cleaned his chin with his napkin. "I have disagreed with the rest of the elders for a while now. The day I became ashamed of being an elder was the day they decided to punish that girl and not call in for a vote."

"Did you agree that she deserved to be punish?"

"For what? Being Lucia's sister? If anything, we should have protected her for the gift she had and the prophecy she was in. But the elders didn't seem to agree with me. They believed that she wasn't the   one in the prophecy and that there was no proof that prophecy was going to happen."

   "What prophecy?"

"The gates will fall, the sky above will blacken and only two will answer the call. One born of fire with wings of an eagle and the fiery of a seraph, a descendant of King David will wield the Holy sword and they will guard the chosen one who can wield all four elements. Together they will the beginning and end to the nephilim world."

   "What are the gates?"

"The reason why we have kingdoms is because there are gates to the supernatural world. The world demons and angels are constantly in battle. We must keep them closed at all cost for a demon were to escape, well we would be in grave danger. Those are level 5 demons, your father created the four knights, the strongest of each element guards the key to one of the gates. There are 4 gates in the whole world, all located in each kingdom."
