"What the fuck?" Anthony screamed violently before slinging Austin to the concrete floor.
"Anthony stop!" I yelled trying to pry him off of Austin. As some of the Duke players were rushing out of the locker room to see what was causing all the ruckus, there was also a gang of Kentucky players making their rounds down to us.
Both teams looked like they wanted no involvement in the quarrel that was taking place so they attempted to hold each player back.
The 7 foot beast though, became quite a problem to contain. Hence why he continued to throw jabs at Austin's face.
After about 5 minutes of Anthony beating the shit out of Austin, security had finally made its way to us. Escorting most of Dukes players back into their locker room and making the Kentucky students head back to their living quarters.
Everyone was kicked out except Anthony and Austin.
The security guard made them both apologize to each other, although they both did it less than wholeheartedly, then dumbly left the scene as if nothing ever happened.
It was a miserable sight to see Austin's body so frail and the look of defeat permeate through his face. He looked like he suffered a broken nose, a black eye, and a deep gash on the side of his right cheek that would more than likely leave a scar.
Anthony on the other hand still looked completely fine, kinda sweaty and angry and hot (definitely hot), almost like he was ready to pounce again.
"Anthony," I spoke in a soothing manner, "Why don't you go back to the locker room and get your stuff? Then I can meet you back in our room."
"Just remember you were made with a pussy, you don't need another one." He stormed off abruptly.
It was at that moment I realized, I fucked up.
"Our room?" Austin rolled his eyes while lost in thought.
"Yeah, we uh, share a dorm." I stated, trying to make light of it. "Can I, um .. " I said while reaching out to grab his hand. He allowed me to hold it, and as I guided him to a first aid kit, I let tears spill out of my eyes.
"Valerie, wha-whats wrong?" He asked as I dampened a paper towel and then began to wipe the blood from his face.
"Nothing." I murmured, focusing on cleaning him up.
He gave me a look I knew all too well.
"This moment just reminds me of that time after the Letterman High School game."
"Are you talking about the time Chase Rolands almost knocked the shit out of me?" He let a small laugh escape from him.
"I'm not talking about the fight, although I was worried something bad was going to happen to you. But I remember how I had to wrap your hand in like 5 band aids because -"
"Because the team didn't think it was necessary to bring a first aid kit along to our away games. And how -"
"How you tried to dunk but the rim rejected you?" I laughed, picturing the moment in my head.
"Yeah, that was pretty embarrassing to say the least."
I let out a sigh and then finished bandaging Austin up the best I could. I watched him as he looked at himself in the mirror.
Even with a scarred right check, bruised eye, and broken nose; I still managed to adore everything that made up his existence.
"You're staring, it's rude."
"Only admiring. And from what I see, the only suggestion I have for you is to get your nose checked out."
He nodded his head and then approached me, wrapping his arms around my waist and squeezed me tight.
"AUSTIN, BUS IS LEAVING IN 5!" We both heard someone yell startling us.
"Guess thats my cue to leave."
"Don't." He said while gazing in my eyes and mesmerizing me.
"But I have to." I reluctantly replied, breaking the eye contact and then making the attempt to walk out the door.
In my process of walking out the door I felt my hand being grabbed, and my body doing a complete 360 into Austin's arms.
"I already lost you once, I can't lose you again." Unveiling his feelings for the first time in a long time, leaving me shocked.
"Who said you ever lost me, Austin? Maybe we just took different paths leading up to this very moment."
He tilted my head back slightly and then trailed my neck with wet, lust filled kisses. With every touch I was catapulted into the past, but I didn't really mind.
Once he made his way to my lips, his gentle kiss felt like it was making up for lost time.
"AUSTIN WE'RE LEAVING!" Someone yelled once again, causing us both to jump.
"So now what?" I asked.
"I love you, you love me: it's that simple." He smiled and then rushed back into the locker room.

As I walked along the cobblestone pathway to my dorm, my head was spinning.
I mean, do I hold onto all the what if possibilities of a person whose true colors I saw shine tonight, or do I go back to the obvious choice where my heart feels whole? Is there really even a decision to begin with, or am I just frolicking in a fantasy world?
As I pushed on my dorm door, I saw Anthony slouched on his bed.
"Hi." I awkwardly greeted and then sat down beside him. He just looked at me and then let out a sigh.
I tried to make small talk, "Um, good game. I heard you scored a triple double."
He nodded his head and then turned then other way. I guess that was my hint to just go to sleep, so thats what I did. I got up, changed, then slipped into my bed.
"Night." I whispered, obtaining no response.
A/N;
"You can't reach
what's in front of you,
unless you let go of
what's behind you."
I have no idea what direction this story is going in lol, my bad. What do you guys think though?
