Fang's POV
It was 3 days before the 200th year anniversary of the arrival. 200 years ago humans came to Jupiter. It's hard to believe we were ever on Earth. I've only heard stories and seen pictures of the old earth. No one knows what remains on Earth, no one wants to know. This is our home now.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

No this can't be happening.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Please no...I'm not ready.
My mom, dad, brother, and two sisters  came rushing into the room. I could see their thoughts clearly through their eyes.

They were thinking the same thing as me.

Suddenly, the emperor, Markus Diay, came on the holovision.

"Greetings Lorila family." The hologram began,"As you know the Fight is fast approaching in three days. Your son, Fang Lorila, has been given the great honour of going into this years fight. Due to his recently turning of 15, and his Hybrid blood, he is now eligible. As per usual he will have two days to pack all his belongings and weapons before he is transported. Best of luck Fang, and may your Fight lead you to greatness."

We all stared at the Holovision. Mom was the first one to break into tears, then my brother, then my sisters. I was still staring at the empty platform where the emperor's hologram just stood.

"Fang, come with me." My father, Maxwell Lorila, said pulling me out of my shocked state. He lead me to the hallway, leaving my mother, Masey Lorila, and my siblings, Patricia, Katrina, and Hayden, crying in the living room.

Before we go any further let me introduce myself. My name is Fang Lorila. I'm a 15 year old Hybrid from the planet Jupiter. My Father is human and my mother is a Diay. Katrina and I are the ones that inherited her powers while my other two siblings didn't. We have powers of fire. We can create fire and control it. I'm the oldest in my family. Hayden is 11, Patricia is 9, and Katrina is 8.

Until now my mother has focused on training me on fire power. But that's not the only component to the Fight. On top of fighting with powers each person is required to have a weapon. Two out of four people on each team has powers, the other two don't and  are allowed two weapons instead of one. I don't have a weapon. At least I thought I didn't.

My dad stopped at a wall between my bedroom and Katrina's. He pressed his hand in the middle of the wall. A golden light traced around his hand and when it was completed he removed his hand from the wall. An intricate design of all the lines in my father's hand glowed on the wall as it slid open revealing a tunnel.

"Come Fang." My Father said as he began to walk down the tunnel. I followed him into the tunnel and we walked a few metres until we reached a doorway. My Father placed his hand on the door again and the same thing that happened on the wall happened. We stepped inside a room that looked ancient. The once red rug was a darker red shade and the walls were sky blue. There were torches lining the walls and a chest in the middle of the room.

"Put your hand on the chest and ignite the patterns on the lid." My father said. I put my hand on the middle of the lid and felt the energy flow through me. Flames flowed out of my hand and the swirls on the lid lit up as the fire coursed through them. I felt a click and stopped the flames. I opened the chest and found a sword in a seethe.

"You got powers from your mother and this is what you're getting from me." Father said,"Once you unseethe this sword it will bond to you and give you the skills of all its previous masters. Only you can wield it. It's ran in the family for years and it only will bond to Hybrids of our blood line."

For the first time since the hologram I spoke,"Thank you Father." I said hugging him. Realization finally sunk in.

I'm going to compete in the fight.

Later in my room I looked for what to pack first. How the Fight works is there are one way teleportation platforms. The teams are sent in with directions to their platform. On each platform, one team's clothes and food for the week lie there. This platform is that teams base. But the platform moves every two weeks and in its place lies directions to the next location. If the other team finds another teams base then the other team is left to fend for themselves for two weeks.

I brushed my dark brown hair out of my eyes with my hand, then I started putting my clothes in the box that appeared shortly after I came upstairs.
When I finished packing all my clothes I picked up the sword my dad gave me. I examined the white leather seethe. It smelled like something unfamiliar...but good. The leather had intricate twisting patterns on it just like the top of the chest. There were a few leaves attached to what I assumed to be vines. I traced my finger across the smooth surface. Just as I grabbed the hilt of the sword, my mom walked into the room. I quickly hid the sword beside me to hide it from her sight.

"I know about the sword you don't have to hide it." She said chuckling. Her eyes were puffy from crying,"I'm so sorry this happened Fang. I know I've been training you all your life just in case this happened but...it's just so hard to accept it actually did."
"Mom it's okay." I said hugging her as her eyes starting watering,"I'm going to win. My powers are strong and I learned from the best teacher there is. You. With the sword dad gave me I'm ready for this."

I lied.

I'm terrified of this Fight. But, I have to be strong for my family. I'll fight my way through this for them. My mom hugged me one more time before leaving so me and my siblings could have some alone time. When they entered, my siblings ran to me forming a giant group hug,

"Fang please win we need you!" Katrina said.

"We'll be here cheering you on and sending you strength from afar. Remember your teachings and that you are strong." Patricia said. Then Hayden spotted the sword lying on my bed.

"What's that?" He said pointing to the sword.

"Dad gave it to me. It's a sword that will give me sword skills because mom spent all that time training me to use fire and I never got to learn a weapon." I replied. Hayden stepped out of the hug and reached to the back of his neck. He took off one of his two chains. This one had a metal dragon attached to it in a loop. He walked over to the sword and put it right above the hilt.
"For luck." He said as he stepped away from the sword.

"Thanks bro." I said hugging him.

"Where'd you get that necklace?" Patricia asked,"I've never seen you wearing it. I've only seen you wearing the chain with the yin-yang symbol."

"Mom gave it to me a couple years ago." He said."She came into my room one night when she thought I was sleeping and put it on me. I never knew why and I never asked because I didn't want her to think I didn't want it"

"Hm...that's strange." Patricia said. She shrugged and turned back to me,"Well since he gave you something I'll give you something to." She took off her charm bracelet, detached one charm, and reattached it to the same chain as the looped dragon. The charm was a sheep. "This represents rest, which you'll need in the Fight."

Katrina was sitting on the bed with the face she makes when she's thinking on. Then she ran to her room and came back with an egg shaped item. It was made of gold and had a smooth surface.

"When you need this, you'll know what it does." She said holding the thing out to me. I took it and placed it beside my sword.

"Thank you...all of you." I said as I hugged all of them."I promise I'll try and win for you. I'll come back."

My siblings left the room and I went to bed. Before I fell asleep it finally came to me what the seethe smelled like.

It smelled like Earth.
