The Five

Chapter 5

Fang POV

"Wake up Fang!" Katrina and Patricia yelled shaking me awake. I glare at them for interrupting my precious sleep and open my mouth to yell at them. Then I remembered what day it was.

The Day of the Fight.

I shut my mouth and my glare dropped into a frown. Katrina and Patricia were arguing about some dumb toy as usual so I quietly snuck to the bathroom. I slowly got ready then went to sit on my bed. My sisters were out of the room now so I was alone. I sighed then sat down.

What if I die? What if this is the last time I could sit on my bed like this? What if I'm not good enough?

So many questions were running through my head. Then it happened.

First the box with my things started to fade as a warning sign that I'll be transported soon.

"KATRINA, PATRICIA, MOM, DAD, HAYDEN!!" I yelled. They all burst into my room with worried looks on their faces. I pointed to the box and their eyes widened.

"Oh my god." My mom said as she rushed to hug me. My siblings ran to get my weapon. They came back and Katrina was holding my sword.

"Please win." She said giving the sword to me. My siblings all hugged me and when they pulled away we were all crying.

"I will." I said.

Then all I saw was a white light.

Jessica's POV
"Ahhh!" I scream as I hit the ground. After what seemed like forever the light finally spit me out. I looked around where I now was. I was in a medium sized room which had a circular doorway that was closed by two metal gates. The walls were painted a coffee like colour and the floors had cream coloured carpets. Thank god for that.

Two boys were standing there looking at me. One was about 5'6, had black hair, and dark brown eyes. The other had blond hair, was about 6'2 and had emerald green eyes. The shorter one came up to me.

"Hey I'm Fang. What's your name?" He said stretching out his hand. I took it and he pulled me up.

"Thanks." I say, "I'm Jessica. Who's the guy trying to blend into the wall over there?" I pointed to the tall boy that was against the wall trying to pretend I didn't exist.

"That's Felix. He's a bit shy as you can see." Fang says chuckling. I walk up to Felix and hold out my hand.

"Hey. Unless your power is camouflage I'd suggest getting away from that wall." I said grinning. He shook my hand and moved away from the wall.

"Hi...um...where is your weapon?" Felix said gaining a bit more confidence. I took off my necklace and showed it to him and Fang,"Uhhh...that's your weapon?" I whipped the sleek black chain up sending the hammer spinning in the air. Then the chain extended into my beautiful whip and the hammer finished growing just as I caught it in my hand.

"These are my weapons." I say as the boys gawk at my weapons.

"Jessica stop showing off your pathetic toys." A familiar, high pitched, self entitled voice said.

It can't be.

I spin around to see Bianca standing behind me. "What are you doing here??" I yell.

"I'm the last member of your team." She says.

"Who's this?" Fang says clearly confused.

"This is my sister." I mumble. Not even bothering with the greetings, Bianca goes up to Felix.

"Hey hot stuff." She tries to purr seductively. Notice I said tries cause she sounds like a cow with a sore throat. "What's your name?"

"Not interested Bianca." Felix says glaring at her. Me and Fang snicker as she suddenly starts glaring back.

"Your loss. How did you know my name?" Bianca says crossing her arms.

"One, the only thing I'm losing right now is my hearing from your internal freaking out from me rejecting you. Two, I'm telepathic." Felix says smirking. Bianca pales then stomps off to a corner. Me and Fang start laughing so hard we're clutching our stomachs. That short time was nice. We almost forgot where we are and why we're here. Then the dreaded announcement came on.

"Hello Team 2713. Welcome to the first stage of The Fight." A voice said. Then the lights went dim and a giant hologram of the emperor appeared in the middle of the room,"Right now you are in the waiting stage. All of you will go into the fight 15 minutes after this message ends. The circular doorway is a one way portal. When it's time to go the doors will open. If any of you are not through the portal 15 minutes after it opens then the wall across from it will push you through. This prevents any...ideas...you may get. When you arrive to the arena all of you will be at separate locations and will have a piece of paper with directions to your first base. As you probably know the location of your base will change every two weeks. A day before it changes a map to your next portal will appear on the portal. Protect this map because your food supplies, clothes, and medical supplies will be at the next base. The clothes will be transported out daily once you're done with them. This is all you need to know. Good luck." The hologram disappeared and the lights turned back on. A screen on the portal doors started counting the 15 minutes.

"Well if we're gonna be fighting together we should get to know each other." Fang said sitting down cross legged on the floor. The rest of us joined him as he started to speak again,"My name is Fang Lorila. I'm 15 and have the power to control and produce fire. My weapon is my sword"

"I'm Jessica Halin. I'm also 15 and I have no powers. But I have two weapons which are my hammer and my whip." I say gesturing to my necklace.

"My name is Felix Topaz. I'm 16 and have telepathy and telekinesis." Felix said. "I can also project my voice into other people's heads." I suddenly hear.

"Do you have a weapon?" Bianca says giving the sick cow voice another shot.

"A bow and arrow." Felix said without looking at her.

"I'm Bianca Halin. As you all know my father is the emperor's best friend, I'm 17, I have the power of mind control, I'm a model, I'm really smart and talented, my weapons are my duel knives, did I mention I'm beautiful?, I-" She was cut off by a burst of flame going very close to her face.

"Damn I missed....I mean whoops I had a muscle spasm." Fang said with a innocent smile.

"UGH!" Bianca screeched, successfully breaking all our eardrums.

"One minute until portal activation." A mechanical voice said. We all got up and lined up in front of the portal. Fang grabbed his sword and attached the seethe to his hip and Felix took out a gold box and dragged a paint brush in the F the top of it. It opened and he took out a tube, from which a bow formed and a bunch of arrows extended in the quiver on his back. I reactivated my weapons and got ready.

"Don't mess up." I heard Bianca whisper as I was pushed through the portal.
