The Five

Chapter 7

Jessica's POV
By the time I finally managed to treat the burns and cuts Fang had, he fell asleep. He had a lot of burns on his right arm and two slashes on his left but I managed to stitch him up.

"How's he doing?" Felix asks walking over with water and food for when Fang wakes up.

"He'll be okay but he needs rest." I say. I look around for Bianca and find she's not there. "Have you seen Bianca? I don't want her out of my sight."

"She went to sleep in one of the rooms." Felix says setting the food and water down then sitting down beside me. "You should get some sleep you know. If an enemy team attacks you won't be at full strength."

"I'm fine." I snap. Felix frowns a bit. "I'm sorry...maybe I should get some sleep."

"It's okay I'll watch Fang." Felix says rubbing my arm. I get up and go to the closet bedroom to Fang, just in case he wakes up while I'm asleep. When I was just about to open the door I hear something move behind me.

I whipped around to see Felix fall with a thud as Bianca knocked him out. She was standing with her back to me as she lifted her dagger over Fang. Everything seemed to go to slow motion as she brought her dagger down.

"NO!" I scream as I whip out my necklace and wrap it around her other arm. Then I tug the whip so she goes flying behind me into one of the dark rooms.

"IT WAS BIANCA!" Fang says as he bolts up. All his burns heal up quickly as he stays awake."She attacked me!"

"SHIT!" I say slamming the wall. I go ridged as a stick as I feel someone move in the walls of the room. I keep my whip ready as I slowly enter the room. Fang comes up behind me with his sword ready. "Fang go back you're hurt."

"No." He whispers,"Most of the wounds were burns I'm fine now."

"Fine."I whisper seeing if I can feel anything in the room. Fang waves his sword and a wave of fire comes flying out.

The room is empty. And Bianca got away.

Great.

As Fang searches the rest of the apartment I tend to Felix, taking care of the bump on his head.

"Owwwwww." He says as I touch the bump lightly.

"Here take some headache medicine you baby." I say giving him medicine and water.

"Well that wasn't very nice." Felix mumbles.

"What was that? You don't want the medicine?" I say smirking.

"Nooooo! I meant thank you!" He says laughing nervously.

"Rest of the place is all clear." Fang says putting his sword down.

"Jesus how the hell did she get away?!" I say standing up and starting to pace.

"I have no idea but let's just be glad she's gone." Fang says sitting down and clutching his arm.

"Fang take it easy you might reopen your stitches." I say concerned. "Let's think. Why would Bianca run off? Where would she go?"

We all think in silence until Felix pipes up,"Could she be out to kill everyone?"

"Well the only person she wants to kill is me." I say.

"But teammates can't kill each other..." Fang says.

Then I realize,"No they can't but I know where she is." I say with dread. "She went to join another team."

"That son of a b*tch." Fang sneers.

"You have no idea." I say tightening my grip around my whip.

"Why would she do this?" Felix asks confused.

I crack my whip to the side of me then shrink it to my necklace. "That's a long story." I say. Fang and Felix sit down in front of me cross legged and look at me expectantly. I sigh dramatically then sit down with them. "Bianca has always been the prize child." I start.

*flashback*
Even though she was we were best friends and she thought how my father treated me was unfair. One day my father called me in his chambers while me and her were practicing. I was teaching her the proper technique of her swords.

"Jessica." My Father said,"You're not doing as good at Bianca so I'll have her randomly attack you just to sharpen your senses."

I was confused but I obeyed. Later that day I heard Bianca and my father talking. What I heard changed everything.

"No! I will not attack my little sister!" I heard Bianca shout from the chambers.

"Bianca you will. She's not even your sister. Your mother had an affair with Marcus Diay and he's Jessica's father." My father said back.

Bianca's gasp covered up mine as my eyes widened.

"That doesn't matter. It wasn't her fault." Bianca said back.

Then I saw a blinding flash come out of the room.

*back to present*

"I don't know what happened after but I woke up in my room. My mother was gone, Bianca had changed from that day on, and my father tried every way possible to kill me."

Felix and Fang just sat there staring. Felix was the first to get up and give me a hug, then Fang followed.

"I'm sorry Jessica." Fang said pulling out of the hug.

"It's okay." I say with a half smile."Hey we should all get some sleep. We don't know what will happen tomorrow so we need to be prepared."

"Good idea." Felix says.

"Goodnight." I say walking inside a room without the broken door.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

I cover my ears as a loud beeping rings out throughout the room. I walk into the living room with my ears covered and find Fang and Felix the same way.

"WHAT THE HELLL?! IS THIS SOME KIND OF SICK WAKE UP CALL???" I yell over the beeps.

Just as I finish saying that Marcus Diay appears as a hologram on our portal.

"Hello Team Gamma. The game council has recognized that a member of your team has betrayed you and that member only slipped through the family vetting because of slightly different DNA then Jessica Halin. We apologize immensely, but revenge will be ever so sweet because the rules are changing. First of all you will be moved immediately.
After I disappear there will be directions to your new base in my place. Secondly, you will now have 5 members of your team as compensation. Two members will be portalled over once you get to your next base. Lastly you are not to kill Bianca or the team she's on. She will be sent back to the Capital when she's wounded enough or she's on the ground disarmed. Good luck."

"I'm going back to sleep." I say walking away and leaving gaping Fang and Felix.
