There are three types of vampire in our world those who are born vampires from the start, those who are bitten and turn, then there are the very rare ones who slowly change into their true form and only find out at the final changing stage, which is around ten years old. Pure blood vampires fall into the first category and the last. Then there was me... changing at seventeen, mum and dad thought that all of their children were going to stay human. Blazer was well past his changing age, and hawk was just over the changing age at 11, I had surpassed this age without so much as a hint of my vampire side. Which was strange for two pure blood vampire to have human children. My parents were relieved at this because those who change, the rare ones are usually taken away and raised else where away from their families. No one knows why but they never come back the same, if they come back at all.

"I'm a full pure blood?" I questioned rather shakily

"yes" Clair replied.

"So I'm different than all the others?" I asked sadly

"yes both of your other siblings are and will remain human from two pure blood parents, its nearly unheard of"  Clair clarified for me, "my parents are both  pure bloods from undisturbed pure blood lines?" I asked

"yes that's right" she replied

"no wonder I have never known my grandparents or any other family, my parents were protecting their human children" I explained recalling events from my child hood.

"that's correct" replied Clair

"for someone who just found all this out your doing pretty well to understand it all " said Arkie who looked rather surprised. "now that you know you have to be very carful because the smog, Jane knows who you are and she has been trying to destroy you ever since she set eyes on you" continued Rose

"so it is now that we take our oath to a pure blooded special to protect you until we find the elders and consult them on this strange issue" finished Lana. I stared into their red rimmed eyes confused  and scared, they had all dropped to one knee with there hands over their hearts. My stomach churned at he very thought that I was a vampire, I had been so scared of them my whole life and now I just happen to be one? I looked away from Clair and everyone else, I turned from them all and slowly walked through the astonished crowed. They were all thinking the same thing as I was ' how could a smaller than average girl like me, who was so weak and fragile be a vampire'. I didn't have titanium skin, amazing strength or speed, plus their skin was flawless and then there was me, so how?

"Ind wait come back" Marlene called to me as I walked away in a trance like state, she came running after me. Once she had caught me Marlene had firmly planted herself in front of me her hands on my shoulders.

"Ind listen to me, you don't have to believe what they say it all could be a big misunderstanding" she tried to reassure me.

"I know Mar but what if it is true, I could put you and everyone else in danger, remember the last one who changed late they couldn't control their blood lust, therefore they had to be put down for good. their ashes are on display in the museum as a warning to any others who may  turn to leave before hand" I explained  to her, I was now falling to pieces.

"hey you have to keep it together" she continued shaking me out of my hysterical state.

" we'll get you to these elders and help you through this" Marlene assured pulling me into an embrace, I hugged her back with one arm and I buried my face in her golden curls.

"but do you actually realise where the elders are Mar?" I questioned her

"no I don't actually, where are they?" she replied in a very worried voice,

"the blackest place on earth" came a voice from behind us,

"wait you surly don't mean the kingdom beyond the tar pits do you?" whimpered Marlene pulling me tighter.

"well yes that's the exact place we mean"  finished Rose with a grim and sombre look on her face.

"are you sure you still want to go?" asked Travis looking meaningfully at Marlene

"well if it will help her than yes I'm prepared to go anywhere for or with her" stated Marlene in the bravest voice she could muster which still didn't cover the complete and utter terror that was now coursing through her . I could feel her whole body vibrating and felt a wet patch appear on the top of my head. I looked up into her reddened face she was crying but still trying to be brave.

"thankyou so much Mar" I whispered to her and only her, we parted now.

"how long would it take to get there exactly?" I said turning to the vampires shielding us from the crowd who had followed.

"close to two months" Dylan estimated looking off in the distance

"eight weeks!" I choked out.

"yes around about that long, even if we carry you some of the way its still going to take six weeks" announced Arkie piping in.

"ok then when do we leave?" I asked not meeting any of their eyes,

"tomorrow seven o'clock, we'll meet you in the field you were beat up in" Clair stated to us

"gee thanks for putting it that way" retorted Marlene holding onto my arm

"she didn't mean it that way" replied Dylan defending Clair

"it's ok Mar you know as well as anyone that's what they are calling that field now" I explained to her in hope that she would calm down

"your right Ind, I'm sorry Clair" she apologised

"its fine I should know it would have angered you, either of you" she replied turning from one of us to the other

"so we leave tomorrow?" I inquired

"yes tomorrow" they all answered in unison.

"then I guess the concert is the last place anyone is going to see us for a while" I sounded a bit to optimistic with this comment.

"yeah so you better give them a show to remember mouse" concluded Marlene smiling at me

"we will see you later then" said Rose beckoning for the other five vampires to follow ( today was the first day I had met clair before there was only five now there were six vampires). The crowd parted as they left and we were left alone.

"well we better get to class too Mar and hope to god Jane stays away" I pleaded as we walked down the disserted hall to our first class of what will turn out to be a very long day indeed.
