Chapter Five. Bonding

Opening my bathroom drawer that had all my makeup in it I searched through it trying to find my cover up. I knew I had to have at least one bottle in here, like I hate the stuff but I keep it just in case I ever got a boyfriend and he gave me a hickey or my friends needed it. You know in emergency but never to cover a blemish either you like me as me or not at all you know? Finally finding it I opened it and applied it generously to my neck trying to cover up the two bite marks on my neck. Satisfied that they just looked like little red dots I waited for it to dry.

Taking my towel off my head I sighed as my hair was already half dry, this was fine since now it would be a little wavy instead of the pin straight annoyingness it was. Letting my hair dry I didn’t bother brushing it because if I did it would just go pin straight even if it was half dry, yes I know most girls work hours to get their hair this way but me nope I’d rather have the beautiful curls. Walking over to my bed I slip on my clothes and go find some socks. Mismatching as always I end up with one blue and one purple and white striped one.

Walking downstairs into the kitchen I’m surprised to see my mom standing there, wondering why she’s not at work yet. Looking at the clock I noticed its only 9:15 and yea she wouldn’t be at work yet seeing as she starts at 10 and doesn’t usually leave till 9:30 it just takes her 10 minutes 15 on a bad morning. Walking over to the fridge I pull out some bacon and sausages and some eggs too, going into the freezer I pull out some hash browns.

“Hey mom you want some breakfast before you leave for work? I can put it in a container for you so you can eat it when you go to work?” knowing my mom this was usually what happened when I did decide to grace the world with my presence at this ungodly hour that should just be reserved for school and school alone! Too bad that’s never happing, a girl can dream though!!

“Ouh gosh yes! Id absolutely love some just put it in my container sweetie and ill grab it before I go I’m just gonna make some lunch for me or should I come home?” I knew she wouldn’t deny my breakfast seeing as I am an excellent cook and she knew it because before she worked so much we would spend hours in the kitchen. Her secret that she always taught me is to have a recipe but don’t follow the measurements just put in the amount you feel is right. At first this confused me but she taught me how to taste and smell the different flavors and I can definitely say I’ve learned a lot, moms always trying to get me on one of those cooking shows. Cooking is not my passion though it’s just something I enjoy very much and love to do but don’t want a career out of it. I’d love to get a job working with children or something to do with helping people, anything in that general direction I’ve always had a thing for that type of thing. I find children so smart and pure full of knowledge that no one really pays attention to simply because they are young and supposedly naïve but in reality they are smarter than the average adult because they know no prejudice racism or any type of hate. That’s why I feel they are so pure and amazing.

“Nope make a lunch I’m gonna be out with a soon to be friend remember Krista from last night? Well she texted me this morning and were going to the mall to get some warmer things and I was wondering if it’s fine with you. Sorry if that sounded like I was telling not asking.” Knowing my mom she hated me just leaving and not letting her know what I was doing. Seeing her nod her head and walk to the fridge to get some lunch meat and the fixin’s for a sandwich I turned back to my task at hand.

Putting the food next to our stove I light up the flattop, yea flattop like the kind used in the restaurants? Yes it’s a bitch to clean but it makes amazing food and its all around a great thing to have in a kitchen. Going to the fridge I grab some butter and spoon some onto the stove smiling as it makes a sizzling sound I place everything on the stove save for the eggs they will be saved for last. Grabbing spices I mix some into my hash browns and taste them just making sure they aren’t too salty. Moaning at the taste I smile and sit at our island playing some candy crush on my phone making a mental note to charge it before I leave because it will probably be dead. Going back and forth between the food and my phone, my mom walks in and grabs her lunch putting it on top of her briefcase and sitting down on the stool next to me.
