"The King demands for your presence at the royal dining room as soon as you are ready, My Lady."
I had been roused from my deep slumber-the comforting mattress lulling me to a deep sleep much to my dismay. It was warm and plush, the pillows fluffed and filled with fine feathers and finally, the sheets that seemed to whisper upon each movement. It almost appealed as if all was properly schemed, housing my exhausted body upon a luxury of softness and comfort in order to lull it to sleep, avoiding possibilities of screaming protests from me; yet even given a ground for a mattress I knew that I would scream or protest not. Sunlight flittered past the windows, encompassing the chamber in it's warmth despite the coldness the wind provides.
The rest of the maidens that had aided me the day before brought me from my sleep, informing me of the King's desires as they stood a line beside the mattress. My hands frantically wiped any trace of sleep, cheeks flushing a gentle rose as they saw me in such state. I nodded softly while I tried to clear the haze of tempting sleep as hurriedly as I could before speaking; "All right. I shall dress immediately." My body leaves the mattress, sluggish steps trailing hesitantly towards the enormous wardrobe.
"Oh no, My Lady, we are to help you dress as we had been ordered. If you may," Charlotte's tender voice protested, all four maidens trailing behind me. I gripped the handles and opened the door as I made my way inside, looking at all of the garments to choose from. Luxurious different cloths greeted me. Some are made of silk, others embedded with hundreds of pearls and diamonds that are not doubted to glisten beautifully under the light. Others are patterned with expensive lace and others look so plain yet so beautiful. My hand grazed the dresses and I smiled softly upon seeing a white dress filled with grace.
And oh.
It is ever so beautiful.
It was embodied simplicity and grace, embedded with gentle laces and silks. Mayceline, one of the maidens widened her eyes upon the dress yet she contained her excitement and slowly spoke, "The dress would surely look exquisite upon you, My Lady."
Aubrey opened another closet; revealing countless corsets and undergarments that could only be attained by luxury. Grey eyes scanned the various corsets until she lowly hummed and reached for the desired one. She closed the closet, striding towards my direction. Time passed quickly as if it was air and I was cleaned and dressed appropriately to meet the King.
Oh my.
I know not if I could withstand another moment with such brooding and powerful man.Facing the large mirror, a startled gasp emitted from me for the dress was as stunning and graceful as it could be.
"It is beautiful." I breathed, hands lightly grazing the dress which I now adorned. My eyes took in all that it could, for this; I was certain, was a dream.
Was it?
Was it?"May I speak, My Lady?" Charlotte asks timidly, hands clasped together and gripping tightly, drawing my attention to her.
"Aye, of course you can." I affirmed hesitantly, brows furrowed in confusion for they need not ask me for permission in order for them to speak. Charlotte bites her lip in a moment's hesitation, yet speaking immediately. "The dress indeed is great but it is just a mere aspect; it is not the true beauty that we can see." my head cocks to the side, brows furrowing even further.
"What ever do you mean, Charlotte?" I asked in wonder. She smiles lightly, eyes shining with kindness.
She speaks; "What we are trying to say is that you, My Lady, carry the true beauty that is rarely ever seen in this world."
