The bell rang and Alex and Jude entered the hallway to the school, "What class do you have next?" asked Jude.

"I think it is Chorus?" said Alex as he pulled a folded up piece of paper from his left back pocket and opened it up.

"You sing?" asked Jude.

"Yes, I like to sing" replied Alex as he handed the paper to Jude.  "I know the room, I 'll walk you there" said Jude as he took a step in front of Alex and started down the hallway. The boys walked down the hallway until they came to a set of double doors and they stopped.

"The music room is through this door, I hope you have fun, see you later I 'll go talk to my mom about coming over" said Jude.

"Thank you, that sounds great, here's my number" said Alex as he pulled a piece of paper out of his front left pants pocket and handed it to Jude. The two locked eyes then Alex pushed the door open and entered the room. Jude turned away from the door and looked up at the ceiling then looked down at the piece of paper Alex handed him and saw a cell phone number followed by a smiley face.

Jude leaned back against the door then looked around and headed to class.

In the music room Alex looked around and saw kids moving around a group of chairs seated on natural risers coming out of the floor. He came over and took a seat in a chair in the back row of risers.
He looked around and saw that kid that had been picking on Jude earlier, "what was his name?" Alex asked himself. But it was not important so he went on about his business as he stood up and walked up to the head of the classroom where a younger to  middle aged man was standing in front of a large white board.

"Excuse me?" asked Alex as he looked at the man as he turned around to face him.

"Yes, can I help you young man?" he asked.

"Yes I am suppose to report to your class, the names Alex Foster" replied Alex as he put his handout to the man.

"Ah, yes, nice to meet you Mr. Foster I'm Nathan the new music teacher. I heard a lot about you from Vice Principle Adams-Foster." replied the man named Nathan as he took Alex's hand in his. they hook for a few seconds then broke a part. "What part do you sing?"

Alex thought to himself then replied with, "Counter Tenor, Tenor 1 and 2, Baritone, and Bass 1, working on Bass 2." Alex kept a calm look on his face as Nathan looked the boy in the eyes as he took in his response.

"Really, have you been in a chorus before?" asked Nathan.

"No not really, but I do read a lot of choral music."

"Really? What pieces?"

"El Grillo, Blades or Grass, Vaughan WillIams Mass in G minor, Beyond the Sea, Man of La Mancha, Jabberwackey, The Voyagers Chorus, Carry on May Wayward son, and stuff like that" replied Alex as he rubbed his left foot against the group.

"When did you learn those?"

"On the drive out here, from Virginia" replied Alex as he felt a someone watching him.

"Well take a seat and we will get class started" Alex walked back to the seat he had briefly occupied before and turned to take a seat. As he sat down he felt the chair being pulled out form under his person and he landed on his butt.

Alex stood up and turned as he found Jeremy snickering with the chair in his hands, "You know people like you sicken me" said Alex as he turned away and took a seat on the second riser. Jeremy came up behind Alex and placed his hands on Alex's shoulders.

"Get off of me now" quietly ordered Alex as he turned to face Jeremy.

"Make me" replied Jeremy.

"You don't want that to happen, plus its not worth my energy" responded Alex as he used his left hand to brush Jeremy's right hand off his shoulder as he jerked his other shoulder out of Jeremy's grip.

"You will regret it kid" marked Jeremy.

"Is that a treat tiny?" asked Alex as he stood up and stood nose to nose with Jeremy.

"You think you big and bad?" scoffed Jeremy.

Alex took one step up onto the riser Jeremy was standing on and stood three inches taller than he did so Alex looked down on Jeremy as Jeremy looked up at him."I am taller than you so, go sit down little man." The two split up and took there seats as the teacher stood at the front of the class.
