I covered my mouth and giggled into it, trying to stay quiet so Ryan wouldn't find me. Last time it was my turn to hide, he told me he found me easily because I was too loud. This time I know I'll win!

"Ready or not! Here I come!" I heard Ryan shout from his counting place and covered my mouth more.

"You can't hide from me," he added.

My hiding spot wasn't really the best. I was up in our treehouse behind the toy chest. I gave it a try. Footsteps coming up the ladder made my heart pound with excitement.

He can't find me. I know it!

"I know you're in here somewhere..."

Suddenly the lid to the toy chest flew up and I nearly gasped, giving away my hiding spot. It scared me!

"You're not in the toy chest..." I heard him mumble then put down the lid.

I heard him walk away then blew out the breath I was holding then quickly covered my mouth as I realized how loud that was. The footsteps stopped and I heard him chuckle. He came closer to where I was then popped his head around and looked down at me.

"Found you!" He laughed and I pouted, crossing my arms.

"This sucks! You always find me!" I whined and he hugged me.

"This just proves that I'm the best seeker in the world!"

I rolled my eyes and we sat in the middle of the treehouse with our thoughts in different directions. I eventually decided to lay down and look up at the ceiling, cob webs were attached to every corner of the roof and I wrinkled up my nose in disgust. Ryan looked up and made the same expression as I did.

"I guess we should really get that," he said and I shrieked.

"No way! I'm not touching that!"

He laughed and shook his head. He knew I was afraid of spiders.

"Ney, I got you something." He suddenly says and I look up at him.

He motioned for me to sit up and I did. I sat up, cross-legged, and waited for him to give me what he got for me. He took out a little box from his sweater pocket and gave it to me. I took it and opened the box only for it to reveal a beautiful necklace with an "R" alphabet pendant on it. I gasped and looked up at Ryan with tears threatening to spill out of my eyes.

"It's your birthday gift. I know it's a week away, but I want to give it to you now," he said and took the necklace out of the box. He then proceeded to put the necklace on me and I looked down at the beautiful gift.

"Thank you, Ry!" I squealed and hugged him tight.

"I know mom and dad aren't getting you anything, so I thought getting you something, myself, would make you feel better," he explained and hugged me back with all his might.

"I love it!" I giggled and ran my thumb over the smooth surface of the R.

"I love you, lil sis," he chuckled and flicked my nose.

"I love you too."

I love you too, Ryan, but please stop licking my cheek, it's really gross and now I'm probably going to have to burn my face, right?
