Lisa finally found a light switch, and turned it on, illuminating the room. It was filled with objects that could have easily been centuries old. Old books lined the shelves, while boxes overflowing with the strangest games, puzzles, and other things were centered in the room. Lisa took in the sights as a voice rang out from behind her.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" Said the voice.
Lisa slowly turned around to come face to face with a tall woman. She had black clothes draped around her and a stern look in her eyes.
"I was wondering if you knew anything about these." Lisa responded as she held out the box she had grabbed before leaving.
The woman's eyes grew wide at the sight, it seemed obvious that she recognized it.
"Follow me." She said, motioning to the back room with her hand. Lisa followed her, entering the room and placing the box on the table. The woman smiled as the looked at the box, she seemed to be filled with old memories.
"This belonged to my friend Amethyst." She began, looking through some of the letters and papers in the box as she spoke. "My name is Jacqueline. Amethyst and I were best friends. She had a very powerful piece of jewelry. Everyone wanted it. She only trusted me with it. This was a long time ago. She sent me away, to hide it. I took it and hid it in an old house. Hopefully no one would find it." Her smile faded as she opened the secret compartment, revealing the necklace to be gone.
"It's my friend Olivia, she is wearing it."
Olivia wore a confused look on her face as the girl continued to gape at her necklace.
"You have seen it before?" Asked Olivia.
"Yeah. It used to be mine." The girl said as she slowly rose from the floor. "It had immense power. Sometimes the wearer would fall into a sleep where they couldn't wake up. I gave it to my friend Jacqueline to take away to the only place I knew it would be safe. The future."
"Wait, that means you must be Amethyst." Olivia responded. "My name is Olivia. We found the box. I wore the amulet and then fell asleep, what do I do?"
"It is practically impossible to get back Olivia. I am sorry. You will probably be stuck here."
"No, there has to be a way." Said Olivia.
"I'm sorry." Said Amethyst with a sad look.
"African Dream Root." Said Jacqueline as she pulled a jar off of the shelf.
"African what?" Said Lisa.
"We can use it to get your friend back." She replied. Pulling one of Olivia's hairs off of the box and mixing it with the strange plant. "This will allow us to join her in her dream. Drink up." Jacqueline placed a cup of the mixture in front of Lisa as she drank her own.
Lisa gulped down the putrid liquid. A strange sensation washed over her as her vision became fuzzy, and she felt tired. Then, the world seemed to be swallowed up, until all that remained was darkness.
When she awoke a single torch illuminated the small dark room around her. The walls were made of a firm stone and floor was made of dirt. The room had no windows, the small winding staircase in the corner seemed to be the only way out. Jacqueline was nowhere to be found, the only thing Lisa could do was ascend the winding staircase up to the next floor. There didn't seem to be anyone around. As she reached the second floor she suddenly felt a cold hand on her shoulder. Spinning around she came face to face with Jacqueline, only she was her age.
"We should go." She said.
Olivia sat on the floor head in hands. Amethyst truly felt bad for her, but it wasn't going to change the fact that she couldn't leave.
"It's not that bad here." Amethyst said in a comforting voice. Olivia looked up as voices sounded on the other side of the door, but they didn't seem deep and authoritative. They seemed more dainty and high. Amethyst crept to the door and peeked out.
"Jacqueline!" She exclaimed before opening the door fully and embracing her friend.
"Lisa?" Olivia questioned as she peered around the newly reunited friends.
"Olivia!" Lisa replied with a sigh of relief.
"Now you girls can get out of here." Said Jacqueline. "Just drink the dream root to wake up, and please, once you get back, destroy the amulet."
"Of course." Lisa responded reaching for the vile. Before she could take it from Jacqueline it was hastily snatched away by a tall man.
