Jake and I spent 3 more hours talking that night. He fell asleep when it was 1 in the morning. Pam and I stayed up all night though. Talking about what happened, how I will have to detach myself from my own body and DNA, because that can also be used in the ritual to kill me. She told me that vampires sleep once a year, which is odd because I feel very tired. Enough to sleep for eternity. Though I guessed it was a vampire thing, so I didn't mention it. We passed the time by talking about things that matter, until 5 in the morning, I started to get curious.
"Pam. Do you happen to know what kind of wizard Jake is?"
"Well, he could be a Druid wizard."
"And what exactly is a druid wizard?"
"Well I overheard your conversation, with one another. He was turned because he needed that witches help. And a lot of witches love nature. She wouldn't have accepted him so easily just by turning. She would have had to look at his energy and what it is radiating."
"And how do they do that?"
"No idea. I didn't want to be a witch for one reason and one reason only. I don't want to kill. Witches kill animals, and rarely humans for potions, rituals, luck and tradition."
"So how is him being a dru-whatever have to do with all this?"
"Druid wizards harness their power using nature. Loving nature, and being one with it. Yet, becoming a wizard is a choice. What type of wizard you turn out to be, is random."
"You're saying that he got the exact one just out of luck?"
"I could be wrong. He does have the power of illusions, and it is more commonly seen in a Shaman."
"Shamans are wizards?"
Pam laughed quietly to herself. "Some of them are. Shamans are good at hiding their mark. Very few go to the Shaman mountains or whatever to hide from the supernatural world. Mostly because almost every creature asks for their help too much. But some stay because they like the attention they get when helping. I'm surprised you didn't know that. It was in the book I told you to read." Yeah, I think the author didn't know what they were doing. The writing is poor taste. "I really thought it would help, since I wrote it myself." Nikki, you're stupid! How dare you judge your aunt's work.
Shaking my head to get rid of the guilt in my heart, and to not go crazy, I continue. "He turned because he wanted to find his sister."
"I know." There was silence flying in the air, but none of us broke it. We were just looking at one another. Both of us asking the same question, but her eyes give me no answer. She starts playing with her clothes, trying to avoid the conversation. Finally I break the silence. "Could he be my brother?"
She sighs. "Last time I saw him, he was two years old. Social Programs took him to give him a new home. I tracked him down, visited the family, pretending to be a stranger that needed help with some car trouble. It was a beautiful family, so I decided to leave him alone. Not wanting to get him into this mess. I never told the family he had a sister."
"You're right. You never did." I turn around and see Jake leaning in the doorway. Hair half messy, and his clothes wrinkled from sleeping in them. "As for my parents, they died in a car crash not to long ago." He paused, took a minute to gather himself back up. "A man told me that I had a sister. He had skin that was sort of pale, so right now I'm guessing he was a vampire. He told me that a vampire took her. Not in a kidnapping, God knows what might happen to her kind of way. Just took. Taken and safe. That's why I've been fighting vampires. They all follow the leader, meaning they are some sort of pact. One or another had to know something."
I turn around to see Pam. And she only said one thing. "How long have you been listening?"
"The exact moment when you said you wrote a book. So, is it true? Could Nikki be my sister?"
Pam kept looking back and forth between me and Jake. I was leaning in my seat and Jake came by my side. We were both in suspense of knowing. She took her time to tell us, and the whole time it felt like torture. But at last, she gave us an answer. "I think you should go see the witch. Just to make sure."
