-not taking your child's injuries seriously when they're younger may make them feel like they cant tell you anything when they're older.

-PLEASE let your kid take personal days once in a while once they reach highschool.

-grades are NOT everything. you can get plenty of well paying jobs now without having to go to college.

-really strict parenting WILL lead to sneaky kids. trust me.

-let them be who they want. they cant change who they are, whether it is sexual orientation, gender identity or anything else. they need someone to support them.

-never say "they're too young to know"

-1 in 5 teenagers deal with mental illnesses of some sort. please make sure they're okay.

-you cant MAKE them choose an educational field.

-even an A+ student who is a star athlete can be suicidal.

-MENTAL HEALTH COMES FIRST

-self harm is more common than you think among teenagers. it's not always cutting (or on wrists). PLEASE BE AWARE.

-sex ed. doesnt teach them anything

-tattoos and piercings arent "unprofessional" anymore.

-if they have depression, please DO NOT call them lazy. it's almost the worst insult you could say.

-if their grades are dropping for no reason, ask about it. don't assume things.

-most teenagers don't have high self esteem. dont make it worse. school is much harder now than it has ever been before.

-not everyone on the internet is a predator.

-it's normal to have internet friends now.

-take them seriously.

-don't take their phones/computers away from them, as that is severing a link to what could be the only people that understand and care about them.

-dont get mad at them for always being on their phone/computer. They have friends online and it's absolute hell to get yelled at by your parents for talking to your friends.

now i wanted to just point these out because never in my life have i ever cried over an instagram post (which is where i got this from) and i really want to show this to my mom, because she doesnt seem to understand why i dont tell her anything, or ask her to go anywhere.

and then the last couple points about internet friends- that was mainly for my bestie of 11 years whose parents- dad really- is a fucking moron and doesnt seem to understand that her friends are the only people who understand her.

and damn if she were to fucking show this thing to her parents, they would think she's insulting them. and i feel horrible that she has parents like that. whereas mine, if i were to show them that- oh man, shit would get deep and tears would be shed. mainly because my mom would be the most affected. because my mom is the reason why i dont tell anyone anything, and why i sneak to 7 eleven or yogurtland because i know the answer is no.

and if i were to have children, i will have this printed out and framed and hung up on the wall. or maybe the front door so when visitors come in, they will read it and either dismiss it, or realize their wrongs and possibly try to correct them with their kids if they have any.

btw im sorry for no updating in forever, i've been kinda busy with school and what not so I'll try to be more active on here.

plus spring break is almost here XD
