Chapter 10 – Sick
Note: I update books prior to the popularity they receive, so apologies since I haven’t been updating Book Of Lies a lot lately. (And I have been feeling immensely out of it for a long time, and everything seems upsetting so I have been getting lots of writer’s blocks as well… ) THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ALL BRILLIANT AND STUFF AND I JUST. I’m so sorry. :c SO I THREW IN SOME CHORLA or whatever [Charlie+Alora] their ship name is.
Charlie’s P.O.V.
Yesterday was absolutely terrible.
Alora had looked worse than she did the day I saw her crying at the coffee shop, reading the Book of Lies. I didn’t think that was even remotely possible, considering how upset she had been.
But seeing her crying and freezing and shaking in the snow it just…ouch. That was harsh – nobody deserves that sort of treatment.
I was hoping that today maybe I could bring her by the coffee shop afterschool again, so that might cheer her spirits up at least a little. She seemed so sad and vulnerable yesterday I just wanted to protect her. And speaking or protections, I had to make sure that she was not getting slow brain damage or whatsoever, because not only do I have to clear her memory, I have to make sure that she doesn’t get affected by me clearing the memory. My job is just absolutely perfect now, isn’t it?
So because of all that, I was sitting in class, 15 minutes ahead of schedule. No student nor teacher in sight of the classroom, which was quiet and peaceful I guess, but I wanted Alora to hurry up and get here so I can double check on her well-being as well as if she has severe brain damage or something.
Waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
Waiting,
Waiting,
Waiting.
15 minutes seemed longer than it really was.

“Anybody volunteer to take her homework to her? Anyone live nearby, a friend, anything?”
My hand shot up on an instinct. Alora never arrived because she was apparently sick at home. I wonder if it had anything to do with yesterday, but my question was sort of answered when a wave of snickers and whispers blew around the room after I raised my hand.
Ms. Olson walked over to my desk and smiled at the fact that someone was willing to take the job. Don’t get me wrong – Alora was quite popular (as I’ve noticed) and has a good amount of close friends. But here in our homeroom, it’s populated with mostly Dan’s friends, and Alora’s friends are all in the other homerooms.
I didn’t mind anyway. I mean, I was supposed to check up on her anyway, so what better way of checking up on her than actually going to her house? Maybe I can cheer her up by complimenting her drapes or something, like those moms do on the television. Only one slight problem.
I’ve never been in someone’s house before.
What if I trip on rugs and break vases like they do in that TV show with the grey cat and brown mouse?
What if I upset her ‘parents’ and ‘siblings’, or worse, her pets?
Does she have pets?
Should I get her a pet if she doesn’t have one?
