My first day of high school sits on the tip of the tree waiting to fall.
I shouldn't even be worried in the first place. I already found the right group of friends. At least I think so.
Christina walks around in the room looking for a necklace, or bracelet, well some type of jewelry. I, on the other hand, is freaking out about all the bad things that can happen.
"Tris." Christina says, noticing me, "It's going to be alright. Just stick with me whenever you have the chance."
I just nod. I might not even stick with her. We've just met yesterday and already bonded, but I don't want to invade her privacy.
She leaves minutes before me and I see her again near the classrooms. I stare at the timetable in her hand.
"Hey, Where did you get that?" I say, pointing towards her timetable.
"Just go inside the gym and they'll guide you from then on."
"Ok, thanks."
Once I go in the gym, I hear pop music booming and echoing wall to wall. Inside, ASB greets us and shakes our hand. The school mascot, a mustang, dances jumps around the room and confetti sits on the floor. Tables are at the end of the room organized alphabetically by last name.
I go to the P table and wait in line.
As I look around, I feel like I've been here before, but in a different life.

School is finally over and from what I've been hearing, everyone goes to the mall called The Pit after school to hang out, to relax, and things like that.
I've been feeling like I don't want to go, mainly because I hardly know anyone and already have no money.
Christina has been trying to convince me to go there all day but I feel like she's inviting me because she knows that I'll be lonely in the room all afternoon snacking on protein bars.
"Come on!" Christina whines, "Please! It's your first actual day and I want it to be fun for you."
"Define fun."
"Um. I don't know." She thinks for nearly a second, "Having a great time with friends? Smiling? Being happy!"
"Well there. I guess we have different ways to define fun."
"How would you define it?"
"I don't know..." I think, "Being different every once in awhile. Having a good time being alone or with others?"
"You're too much Tris." Christina teases, "But I'll find a way for you to come. Whether you like it or not."
"She's right." We turn to look at Lynn leaning against our door frame.
"See! I even convinced her to come." She says pointing at her.
"No." I say for the last time.
"Christina," Lynn starts, "Let it go. You just met her."
"If you go any longer you would seem very freaky and creepy." She mutters.
"I'll just try one more time," Christina says turning to me, "Do you want to come with us to the mall?"
"No."
"I'll buy you food."
I consider the offer for a moment mainly because I need to eat some real food. Well, something other than protein bars.
"I'm in."
Later at the mall...
"So when are we getting food?" I ask Christina.
"Patience my young one." Christina chuckles then looks around, "Oh hey look! It's the rest of the group."
Sitting at the food court, the people I've met two nights ago notices us and waves for us to come over.
As we walk I ask Christina, "Will this be the best time for you to get me food?"
"Not yet."
"Hey guys," Lynn says sitting down next to who I think I remember as Uriah.
Christina sits next to Will and I sit next to no one. Since I don't want to invade their personal bubble just yet.
"What'd you buy?" Will says, looking down into Christina's bags.
"You know." She says, "Clothes and what not."
"Of course," Four says.
"Does she often get clothes?" I ask.
"I wouldn't call it often. It's more like an addiction."
"Shut up." Christina teases, "At least I don't waste all my money on fancy sports equipment like you guys."
"Well at least we need them." Zeke says.
"Touche." Christina sighs in defeat.
"So Tris," Four says turning to me, "What do you like?"
"Why do you want to know?" I ask.
"Because you seem interesting." He says, "And if your birthday ever comes up, we all know exactly what to get you."
I think and think but all I can do is space out, "I don't really like anything. Plus, I don't really want anything on my birthday."
The group stares at me as if I'm crazy. As if it wasn't normal to not want anything. The only ones who weren't even paying attention was Zeke and Uriah because they were too busy continuously pulling little pranks on eachother.
"So what's your story Tris?" Marlene asks, "How did you end up here in Divergent High?"
"I don't really know." I lie, exactly know why, "My parents just sent me here."
"Oh." Is all they say.
After a while of talking and finally getting some food from Christina-A Philly Cheese Steak that tasted so good- everyone starts heading home. Christina, Zeke, Four, and I walk to the same direction because apparently, we live in the same building.
All of them walk aligned almost huddled against each other in a way as if we were middle schoolers walking home from school. And I just walk beside them, as an extra in a movie, just trying to focus on their conversation.
They all laugh about as they gossip about teachers or about other things that I'm not so sure of because I'm too caught up in my thoughts.
We reach our room moments before I know it.
"Hey guys," Christina says, "Want to hang out at our place for a bit if Tris doesn't mind?"
"I don't mind." I say.
"Sure." Zeke and Four agrees.
We walk in and I set my sweater on the edge of my bed.Zeke and Christina sit on her bed and at the same time, Four sits on mine. What the heck does he think he's doing? I think to myself.
I then sit down on my desk chair to keep my distance.
"So..." Zeke says, after moments of silence, "How's life?"
