I stepped into my new home, slightly wet from the drizzling rain. The first thing I noticed about my house, was that it was completely decorated. I had only been gone for a day! My parents definitely had no lives, and they probably spent the whole day decorating the new house. Unbelievable. My mother's decorating skills had never ceased to amaze me. Every house had a different theme. New York was sophisticated, chic, and luxurious. San Antonio was cozy and comfy, and so forth. My mom was an interior designer and a realtor. She would make our house beautiful, and when we moved to a different place, she would sell it with the furniture. That's why our house never had the same furniture. My dad was some CEO of a business that I never bothered to learn about. He was part of the reason why we moved around a lot. So anyways, as soon as I stepped into the house, my parents magically appeared.
"Honey! You're home! How was the sleepover at your friend's house?" My mom squealed.
"It was fine, mom. Sorry I got home a little late."
"Darn right you are! Do you know what time it is? You've been gone for almost a day! You didn't help your mother and I unpack! And I thought I told you not to talk to strangers! You barely know those people! They could've hurt you!" My dad was breathing hard from his rant and I rolled my eyes.
"They aren't strangers. They are my friends. Plus, mom told me to go hangout at the beach and meet people! Besides, I texted you guys!" I retorted.
"It's okay, honey. Your father was just a little worried that you wouldn't be home in time for the dinner."
"What dinner?"
My dad straightened up and announced, "As the CEO of Foster Incorporations, I have relationships to uphold at work. So, I invited the CCO of the Benton Foster Incorporations and his family over. Plus, I think they have a kid that is your age, Cecelia."
"So let's review today. While I was out with friends, you guys decide to furnish and decorate the whole house. Then, dad has a dinner with one of his co-workers, and didn't bother to tell me until now?" I muttered.
"Sorry, it's such late notice, bon bon, but you still have the rest of the afternoon to yourself! It's only 2 o'clock," my mom said guiltily.
"Whatever mom."
"Listen CeCe, I'm sorry. You know I love you though." My dad looked uncomfortable.
"It's fine dad. I'm just gonna go relax in my room." I replied.
My mom looked uneasy. "Honey? I thought that since you're all grown up now, " she sniffled, "that maybe you would want to decorate your room for a change. If you want me to decor-"
"No mom! It's fine! I want to decorate it!" I was giddy with excitement. Usually, she would decorate my room perfectly and I was fine with it. We moved around so fast that it didn't even matter. It just wasn't my personality though. I wanted my room to express me this time.
"Okay then, sweetie. If you need anything, call me. All your clothes are in the boxes in your closet!"
I grinned to myself and made my way upstairs. I was excited to plan out my room.
I ran upstairs to my new room and glanced at it. My parents had placed a plain mattress on the ground. It didn't have a headboard or anything under it. Just a plain mattress. Next to it, was a clock plugged in on the ground. There was a window on the wall and two doors. I assumed one was to my bathroom and the other was my closet. And that was basically it.
I plopped down on my bed and groaned. I had forgotten everything at Brooke's. I had put my clothes, all my beach stuff, and Adam's phone in my beach bag. And I left it at her house. I glanced at the time and saw that it was 2:18. I had 4 hours to waste. The business people were coming for dinner at 6:00. A little early for my taste, but they were probably proper and rich people that did everything early. I decided to think a little bit about how I would decorate my room. As I thought, I slowly started to drift to sleep.
