Chapter 3:
Now, I am a senior in High School. I graduate in two days. High school was pretty hard for me. I made good grades;I made sure I always did after that day my dad called me a dumbass. I am no dumbass, and I proved that by being a Straight-A student all throughout highschool. I didn't have any friends at all. I chose to not let anyone in after Harry left. Him and I kept in contact for a little while, but then drifted apart. I haven't heard from him since like the middle of 10th grade. I'm not involved in sports. I did FCCLA and Theatre. I was pretty good at both of them too. Being that I had Straight A's and was involved so deeply in the two things that I did, I was named Valedictorian of the class. I really do not want to get up and give a speech to everyone. What am I supposed to say? Fuck highschool. People are fake. I don't think that'll work. I'll just talk about how important grades are. I was accepted into Belmont university in Nashville with a scholarship. All because of my grades. Yea, thats what I'll talk about. I write my speech and go to bed. When I wake up, my mom informs me we are going to the mall to get a dress for graduation. I'm not sure why because I'll be wearing my robe and I'm not even having a party. Just a few family members over is all. We shop and I get a light yellow sundress and white flats. When we get home, I run through my speech a few times them relax a bit. I shower and go to bed early.
I wake up at around nine and plug in my curling iron. I'm supposed to be at the school at noon. Graduation starts at 2. I do my makeup and slip my dress on. I curl my hair in loose banana curls. I say bye to my mom and head to the school. We run through the practice when the band arrives. Then the people start to arrive and we're forced to stay in the back so nobody can see us. Soon enough, the graduation music begins to play. We make our way into the gymnasium and its awfully awkward when I have to be escorted by Jonny, a small nerdy kid in the class. Curse you alphabetical order rules. We do things a little backwards today. Our diplomas are handed out and then speeches are given. When my name is called, I make my way onto the stage and set my paper on the podium. I take a breath and scan the audience and my eyes stop when they meet the deep pool of emerald green in the back. Is this for real? "Ha-Harry?" I say into the microphone before I even realize it. Everyone's eyes to him. I can not believe I just did that. I run off into the back, the tears already feeling. How embarrassing! I stand against the wall for a minute, then slide down onto the floor and burry my head in my hands.
"Les?" A deep voice startles me followed by a hand on my shoulder. I look up at and my eyes meet his. He looks so different. His arms are tattooed from wrist up, Two small rings wrap around the corner of his bottom lip.
"Harry? What're you doing here?"
He takes a seat on the floor next to me on the floor.
"You think I'd miss my best friends graduation?" He asks with a smirk. His accent is even deeper than before. He really traveled all the way across the world for my graduation? He puts in hand on my knee. "Go give your speech. I'll be waiting when you're done." I make my way back to the stage. My speech opens with, "Sorry about my outburst. What can I say? Graduation day is emotional!" A few people chuckle. I finish my speech, my eyes almost never leaving Harry. The ceremony ends and I look all over the gym for him. My mom stops me and makes sure I'm okay and tells me she's gonna head home. After searching for Harry for about ten minutes, I give up. He isn't here. I take my robe off and drape it over my arm then make my way to my car.
