Adam
I was in my room. I just left Diana. She told me that she didn't like liars. That one really hit home on me. She always
hated liars in every lifetime. And she could always pick out the lies, no matter how good they were. I mean, how do you tell the woman you love that she's lived several past lives and is at risk? You don't. You lie.
I run my hands down my face and sigh. I take a deep breath in and cough.
What was that smell? I had left my window open to get some fresh air in and relax. I coughed again as I stood up and stick my head outside the window to see where the grassy smell was emitting from. I looked up and saw Diana smoking a blunt on her balcony.
Damn it.
She can't stay out of trouble. I see her inhale one more time and then flick the bud out onto the grass. She went back into her room.
Well, there were two options as to how I could do this.
One. I fly up there, scare her and confront her.
Two. I leave it alone and let her do her thing.
As I was closing my window I heard Diana's music playing.
I didn't catch the name of the song or the chorus but I caught enough of it for me to fly up there and give her a piece of my mind.
I didn't care much for the music of today. But it was a pretty song. I caught one of the lines in the song.
"Look at the stars, look how they shine for you."
I don't know why that line spoke to me but in that moment I found myself being transported back to a time with Diana in the 1930's.Flashback~ New York City 1937
We were walking enjoying each other's company not really worrying about anything. It was at dusk, that beautiful time of night where the sky was a mixture of vibrant orange and inky blue and purple. We were walking in Central Park. Just enjoying each other's company. We really had nothing to do, we had just finished eating at a fancy restaurant. The stock market crash did affect us in the smallest bit. I lost a few business and a little money. But I didn't really care. This was the longest time that I had Diana. The last time I saw her was the Mexican American War in the 1840's. Nearly 100 hundred years I had to wait. I've waited longer for her but I manage to find her. Diana looks up at me, her hat tilts and gives her the beautiful mysterious side of her. Her blue eyes sparkle and her smile is breathtaking.
"Adam, the stars." She whispers in awe.
We stop walking and I look up. The stars twinkle back at us. But the city lights are coming on and will soon blot out natures beauty.
I look down at her and see her smiling. She looks back at me and makes eye contact with me.
"Look how they shine for you." I say.
Diana blushes and looks at the ground.
End of Flashback
I snap out of reverie and focus my attention on the Diana of the present. The smell has spread out and is no longer strong. But then I hear her sigh and start to laugh. I climb up onto the window ledge and fly up onto to her balcony. I stand in the doorway and with my best intimidating voice I scare her.
"Why the hell are you smoking that?"
Diana
Adam looks at me with a disappointed look. I feel ashamed, but then I remember my high. I giggle at him.
"Don't be such a loser Adam. Here have some." I pull out another blunt.
He stares at it.
"You don't want a blunt? How about an apple?" I go into my bag and pull out a big shiny red apple.
"Diana, I'm not going to tell you how to live your life but I am going to suggest that you stop this weed business."
Aw how cute he used a boyfriend protective voice.
I smirk at him. "Ok." I say my high is starting to slow down. "I will, if you tell me how you go rid of that headache so fast."
Adam's eyes meet mine. I cross my arms and tap my foot to show my impatience.
"Fine. Go dump that stinky shit somewhere else." He says.
I roll my eyes and laugh inside my head since I knew that I had more Mary Jane in my bag.
Adam sits on my bed patiently. I join and put some space in between us. I study the side of his face that I could see. Strong, handsome. But underneath in his eyes I could feel that he was maybe hurting and possibly upset.
I wanted to comfort him. But my brain was saying no.
"I can heal people with the touch of my hand if I want to." He says calmly and slowly.
"Well duh, but that doesn't explain how or where it came from." I question.
Adam sighs. "Diana, do you believe in reincarnation?" He asks softly.
"I mean, maybe, don't Hindu's or Buddhist believe that?" I reply.
"Technically yes, but religion aside, do you believe?" He asks again.
"Yes." I reply.
Adams face relaxes and then tenses.
"Diana, I don't meant to frighten you with what I'm about to tell you but I just need you to stay calm." Adam looks at me expectantly.
I furrow my eyebrows but I nod.
"Diana, I'm not mortal."
"Ok?" I say back. "What are you then?"
Adam takes a deep breath. "I'm an angel. Actually I used to be Michael, but something happened."
"Hold on, you don't mean Michael the Archangel do you?" I ask.
"Yes. I used to be him."
"Did Mary Jane find you or did you find her?" I ask with a slight laugh.
"Mary Jane has never touched me." He turgidly replies.
"What the hell?" I say. "How come you aren't Michael anymore?"
"I fell in love with a beautiful girl." Adam Smiles.
My heart beats fast and then hurts.
"What's she like?" I ask.
Adams smile grows bigger. "Beautiful. She has this smile and she loves adventure."
"Who is she?"
"You."
