.My name is Mali Infinite Prescott.I live in the Reko District of The American Federation of China. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers. My grandparents sit facing the door of our small house. They just sit there starring at it.I begin to walk over towards them when my mother grabs my arm to stop me.

"Go find you sister" she says

I sigh and walk past my grandparents out the door. The dying grass and flowers in front of our house make me frown.Reko was by far the most ugliest district in North Amercia.Nature refused to grow here.Unlocking the glass lock on my bike, Sun run towards me.The expression on her face tells me something is going on.

"Mali!Mali!" she screams.I swear I could feel the whole district eyes on us.Now dont think I didnt like her.Sun was my best friend in the whole world, but sometimes she was a bit dense.Even from a far I could see that dust and dirt covered her face.

She embraced me.I was glad she did that. Her name actually fits her.Shes always happy. And her smile warms even the coldest people.

Her hand held out a small box woven with twigs and leaves.

"Happy Birthday" she said as she fiddled with her long Asian hair.I completly forgot it was my birthday.

"Thank you Sun" I said. I opened the box.Inside was a necklace. It was made with pure silver. At the edge there was my name "Mali".I understood my she was covered in dirt. Her mom worked in the minerals factory. She must have had to beg her mother to make that or make it her self.

"Where are you going?" she asked.Every couple of seconds she would look behind her nervously. What was making her nervous?

"Ceri escaped again." I joked

"Okay.See ya later then." she said as she turned to walk away.I watched her floral tunic and leggings disapear in the crowd. She still looked nervous. Most people in Reko District where Chinese or Japanese although some people from other countries did live here.

I pulled the hood of my jacket over my head as I rode my bike down the path.A large glass moniter played over my head.I skipped to a stop to loom at it.A tall Asian man in a grey suit sat at a table in front.Do they really have to play this stuff every morning?Every morning in the western districts, we have morning announcements.Lately all its been about is Russia invading and how we are not to worry.Or its about less food in our district and the neighboring districts around.I rode my bike away so I didnt have to listen.

Ceri always ran away from home. She would go somewhere from days or weeks at a time. But she always found her way back home.No one knows my she does this.

My bike pulled to a stop at the district border fence.I listened closely for Ceri's voice.Nothing.The trash around me brought such a fowl smell.I read the sign on the fence:

ALL THAT TRESPASS ARE TO BE CHARGED WITH TREASON AGAINST THE DISTRICT

The officals in the district they to keep citizens out of the toxic areas that havent been properly clean. They do this becaue of the radiation and mutation animals out side the district. My dirt covered boots went into the holes of the fence.I fell off the fence just as I reached the other side. The earth was cracked in places and wild plant mutations grew.My stomach heaved.I walked straight ahead so that way I wouldnt get lost out here. That would be terrible. It seemed like I walked for a hour but I knew I've only been out here for no more than 20 minutes.
