Chapter 7: Sparks

Xavier and I went down to hang out with the rest of the guys and Mahogany. They all suggested we play truth or dare. Carter went first.

"Johnson, Truth or Dare." He spoke.
"Dare.",he automatically replies.
"I dare you to run down the street in your boxers singing the theme song of Little Einsteins," he smirked.

Johnson took off his shirt and pants, everyone got their phones ready. He started running and singing, the neighbors looked at him with disgust which caused us to laugh even harder. He came back and everyone settled down.

"Ok, Hayes truth or dare?" Johnson asked.
"Truth," I heard a couple of groans.
"Alright, do you like Layla?" He asked.

*Layla's P.O.V*
I decided to go downstairs so I could hang out with the guys and Mahogany. While I was walking I hear.
"Ok, Hayes truth or dare?" Johnson asked.
"Truth," I heard a couple of groans.
"Alright, do you like Layla?" He asked.

Hayes please say no please say no.
"Yeah, I guess I do." I could tell he was blushing.
I don't know what came over me but I walked out there. "Hayes can I talk to you please?" "Sure," I heard a couple awes.

We walked outside.

"First day I came to school you were an ass, the next day you were so sweet and nice, we come back to school your an ass but then you tell me I'm beautiful and now you say you...," I was cut off by very plump lips on mine.

I kissed back automatically and all I felt was sparks. This should not be happening it's Hayes, I don't like Hayes maybe I do. This kiss was so gentle but passionate, we both parted for air.
"Wow," he said. "That was amazing," he added on.
I started blushing than it hit me, "Hayes you have a girlfriend," I said.
He looked at me with guilt, "Layla I'm so sorry I don't wanna put you into this situation," he said.

"Why are you even with her?, you clearly don't like her," I ask.

"Well I'm the popular boy and she's the popular girl, were suppose to date," he says like it was obvious.
"Hayes, life isn't a movie, I'll be here when you come back to reality" I left him standing there looking dumbfounded.

I went back inside, "Guys I'm gonna go get pizza," I said than left. I got on my penny board and skated to the pizza shop. I heard a couple wolf whistle's on the way, I forgot that I was wearing this outfit.

"Hi welcome to Dominoes, what can I get you?" The cashier ask. "One large pepperoni please," I answered. "Sure thing that will be $12.75," I gave her the money and sat down.

"One large pepperoni," I went up and got the pizza. I walked out the store and I heard crying. I turned to my left and saw a girl about my age sniffling.

"Hi, what's wrong?," I asked her. "Nothing,"she said and quickly wiped her eyes. I gave her a look.
"Seriously, I'm fine" she answered.
"No your not, I know you don't know me but you can tell me what's wrong." I sat down next to her on the ground.

"Are you sure? I don't wanna put this on you," she asked.
"It's fine now tell me, want some?" I asked her indicating the pizza.
"Sure thank you, by the way I'm Shayla," she told me.
I widened my eyes, and started laughing, "what's so funny?" She asked. "It's just that my name is Layla," I answered. "Oh wow what a coincidence," she giggled.

"Alright so tell me what happened,"

"So there is this boy in my school and I really like him but my friends keep telling me he is a fuckboy and I should stay away from him. At first I believed them but I stopped because the boy and I started texting. He was really sweet and stuff and we talk during school. He asked me on a date yesterday and of course I said yes but he stood me up. I called my friends and they just laughed at me saying they told me so," she said.

"What the heck that asshole, also they are not your friends cause if you had called me I would have told you to come over and we would watch Netflix while eating ice cream." I said while giving her a hug.

"You know what we're gonna do that right now," I got up and threw away the box since we finished it.

"I don't have any clothes to sleep in though," she said. "Girl were the same size wear something I have," I said.

"Ok let me text my mom," she took out her phone.
I quietly waited,.
"Alright she said its fine," we both hopped on our penny boards and rode to my house.

"Guys I'm back, meet Shayla. Xavier shes spending the night," I told him.
He gave me a nod then Shayla and I went upstairs.

"Oh my god why is Hayes Grier at your house, he's so cute" she said as we entered my room. It felt as if my heart dropped into my stomach.
"Oh," that's all I said.

"Wait, do you and Hayes have a thing, but isn't he dating Danielle?," she asked.

"It's kind of complicated,"I let out a sigh.

"Don't worry girl I ship y'all," Shayla said

"Yeah me too," I blushed.

*10 MINUTES LATER*

"Luke is mine!" I yelled at Shayla.

"Uh uh is not!" she yelled back.

"Is too!"

"Is not,"

"SHUTUP!" That startled Shayla and I, we looked to see a red Carter.
He closed the door than Shayla and I busted out laughing. We looked at the time, 1:02 "Let's go to bed now," I suggested. She nodded and I gave her some clothes to change into.

She came back 5 minutes later and slipped in the bed. We both laid down.
About 3 minutes later both of our stomachs mimicked the sound of a whale calling to its mate.
"Let's go eat," Shayla said while laughing.
We walked down the stairs and Hayes looked at me with pleading eyes. I just rolled mine and kept walking.

"Let's cook some cupcakes," I said.
"Wow Layla I didn't know you could cook cupcakes," Shayla looked at me holding back a laugh.
"Shutup you know what I meant," I said and laughed.

We got out the ingredients and made the batter, while mixing Shayla got a text. She sighed and started smiling.
"What did that text say?" I asked
"It was the boy, he said that his mom grounded him and he hopes that I still like him also he wants to hang out tomorrow," she said.
"Aww, you be..." I got interrupted by the sound of my phone going off. It was a text from Daniel.
Hey, I hope you get a peaceful sleep beautiful, can't wait to see you tomorrow. Meet me behind the school at 8:45.

I smiled at the text message.
"Ooo Layla who's that?"Shayla asked.
"A boy I like," I said.
"What about Hayes?" She asked
I just rolled my eyes and she seemed to get the message.

We put the batter into the pan and set the timer. We went and sat down in the living room with the group.

"Hey guys wanna play truth or dare with us?" Carter asked.
"Sure," Shayla said.
I notice Hayes wasn't in the room at the time.

"Ok, Layla truth or dare?" Taylor asked.
"Truth," I replied
"Do you like Hayes?" He asked.
"I honestly don't know," I replied.
Just than and there Hayes walked back into the room. I hope he didn't hear me. I just shook it off though. It was Shayla's turn to ask Taylor truth or dare.
"Taylor truth or dare?"
"Truth,"he answered.
"How long does it take for food to travel down your neck?" She asked holding back a laugh. We all bursted out laughing. "Damn Shayla,you a savage." Johnson said. (A/N: Any RiceGum fans?)

The timer went off for the cupcakes, Shayla and I went to go get them. I wasn't really in the mood to eat anymore so I just went to my room and laid down. I soon found myself asleep a few minutes later.
