A letter to my child

My dearest,
The river of tears wasn't necessary
The bloody wrists wasn't compulsory,
Shutting in wouldn't have healed your heart
The sunlight wouldn't have dried and broken it apart.

Darling, the fake smiles seemed so natural
Maybe a sign that now  you've matured
But the frown wouldn't have kept me at bay
I would pity, yes, but I will stay.

Sweetie, you did your demons pretty well
But their soul isn't a hell where they dwell.
You are my angel of pure innocence
Then how come you know of such self violence?

Sugar, stop hiding behind the dark shadows
Please don't lose that smile passing the scary meadows,
Just know that you're never alone, hun
'Cause no matter what I'll always he there
Love,
Mum.
