Chapter 2: Mornings With Liam

Colleen's POV:

I woke up and jump out of bed.

Most people aren't a morning person but I am.

My names Colleen and I have a 6 year old son named Liam.

Today is Liam's first day of preschool!

I am so excited for my baby.

Liam's father, my ex boyfriend, left me when I found out I was pregnant.

Liam looks a lot like me.

Dark hair dark eyes.

He gets sad a lot about not having a dad.

I can't blame him.

He needs a father figure in his life.

I go into his room and turn on the lights.

His eyes flutter open.

"Mommy?" He asked.

"That's my name!" I say laughing.

"Mommy I don't want to go to school." He said hiding under his covers.

"Why not buddy?" I asked going over to him.

"Because what if I'm the teacher is mean? Or what if there is mean kids in my class?" He asked.

"Liam there won't be ok. You are going to have a great first day of school!" I said happily.

He gave me a fake smile.

"How about if you go today then you can have extra dessert tonight?" I asked.

His eyes widened as he sat up.

"Ok!" He said excited.

I hugged him tight.

I love Liam.

He is my little man.

He is very protective over me.

He is a really Momma's boy.

Being a single mom is hard, but having an amazing son makes up for it.

Liam is really well behaved, but he likes to talk a lot.

He always has something to say.

"Mommy I want to wear my Lego shirt today." Liam said.

"Ok baby." I said to him. I got him dressed and then brought him into the bathroom and did his hair.

He likes to spike up his hair.

It looks really cute.

"I can brush my teeth by self mommy." Liam said.

"Ok I'm going to watch." I said.

He "brushed" his teeth and so I took over the places that he didn't get.

"Ok go get your book bag while I pour you some cereal." I said.

He nodded and ran to his bedroom.

We have a pretty decent sized house for the two of us.

We have a bedroom for me and him, a guest room, and a playroom.

I work as a vet.

Liam has a babysitter every Thursday because I have to work later on those days.

Liam came running out with his backpack and sat down at the breakfast table.

"Mommy come eat with me." Liam said.

"Mommy is going to go get ready." I said.

"Ok." He said quietly.

"I'll put on Paw Patrol for you but you have to promise you'll eat." I said.

"I promise." He said.

I went into my closet and got in scrubs. I'm required to wear them but they are actually semi-comfy.

After about 10 minutes I walk back out to Liam putting his bowl in the dishwasher.

"Look at you big boy." I said kissing his head.

"Ok mom lets go, I want to get there on time." He said.

"Liam we will trust me." I said laughing.

"No now mom!" He said.

"Liam we aren't going to go 35 minutes early." I said.

"Ok." He said.

I got my keys and fed our dog Charlie.

"Liam say by to Charlie, you won't see him till you get home from school." I said to Liam.

He ran over to Charlie and gave him a hug.

Charlie was a golden retriever but super sweet, most golden retrievers are.

I grabbed Liam's hand as we got in the car.

"You should turn on music, preferable some one direction." He said.

"Ok buddy." I said laughing.

He loved One Direction, it's really cute to me.

Then again, I think everything he does is really cute.

We pull up at Liam's school and get out.

This single mom thing isn't too bad.
