Melat followed Felren through the forest until reaching the very end of the forest and stared at large stony field. "Felren where are we going"? Melat asked. "If we're gonna help take back Archvil from those monsters we'll need help, and I know just where to get it. The two walked through the gray stony field and approached a large cave sinking into the ground. Standing outside were two bulky men wearing brown shirts and black pants wearing helmets and each had silver tipped spears. The two walked up to them and the two soldiers pointed their spears at them. "What are your titles". The soldier on the right asked. "I'm Felren and this is Melat my nephew". Felren said. "Are you with any police force"? Felren asked. "I'm with the rangers guild". The two soldiers looked angered and concerned at the same time. "Relax i'm not here to turn you in, I need to speak with the champion". Felren said. "All who wish to speak with a competitor must join in the tournament.". One of them said. "What since when is that a rule"? Felren asked impatiently. "Since one of you boy scouts busted a fight in the South Western swamp, so either join or leave, or at the very least come on in and watch the fights while giving me your weapons". The soldier demanded. Felren and Melat looked at each other and Felren gave a quick nod. "Alright we'll join". He said. "Hehe good luck ranger and you to kid". The soldier said as he stepped aside as did the other. Felren and Melat walked in the cave and journeyed through the dark corridor of stone. "Hey Felren what is this"? Melat asked. "This is a pit. An illegal fighting arena set up in an undisclosed location". Felren said. "Wait this is against the law I don't want this". Melat said hesitantly. "Listen sometimes to accomplish good things you need to break some rules, you need to learn that someday". Felren said. "Ugh fine". Melat said. They reached the end of the corridor and they were now underground. Out of the corridor lied a large stoney room with dozens of spectators watching and a large pit in the middle of the room, with a fifty by fifty stone pillar in the middle of the pit. The pit was as deep as an ocean and as wide as a canyon. There was a sign that read "Competitors only". The two walked in the doorway under the sign and inside the room was a private spectators area for the competitors. There were four other competitors. One was a man with an average build and a pair of brass knuckles as his weapon, one was a scrawny blonde haired boy who looked a couple years older then Melat who wielded a small bag whose compounds are not known. The other was about Melat's age who was unusually bulky for a childs age and had no weapon at all, and the last one was a girl around Felren's age with brown hair and a dark green uniform with the arms fully exposed. Her weapon of choice is a katana. Felren walked in and stood near the edge of the cliff and leaned on the railings as did Melat. "Lot of people my age here huh". Melat commented. "Yeah lucky break for you but there are more people here in your age department then usual. Then again i'm only eighteen so theirs not much of an age gap between competitors". Felren said. Felren took a look at the group of people and examined all of them. "What are you looking at them for"? Melat asked. "I'm trying to see which one of these people might be the champion". Felren whispered. "I see". The bulky one around Melat's age said. "Your a ranger aren't you, only rangers examine their opponents before a duel". He said. "Yeah but don't worry im not here to stop the fight, i'm looking for help for a project, hoping whoever the champ in here is, i'm hoping they'll oblige". Felren said. "That would be me". The woman with the katana said. "Your the champion huh"? Felren said. "Yup and I don't really talk to low life fighters that much so I'll keep this quick". She said. "Whatever business you need my help with, is not worth my time, this is the only time of the week I get to myself without others clinging to me for everything". She said. Felren look away in disappointment. "However". She continued. Felren and Melat looked at the girl. "If you, not the younger one with you, you an you alone beat me in the finals, then I'll join you". She said. "Deal". Felron said without hesitation. "Hey, if she doesn't join you, I will". The bulky one said. Soon a man with a small piece of paper and a pencil walked in. "Hey you two are last minute competitors, I'm gonna need your names". He said while handing them the paper and pencil. Felren and Melat wrote their names down and handed the man the paper back. "Perfect alright so the boss told me to pick the order so". The man said while getting another piece of paper out of his pocket and wrote down the order of contestants. The man walked out of the room.
A few minutes later, an announcer in the arena started yelling to the spectators. "Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Pitt". The announcer yelled. "Our first contestants of the evening are". The announcer yelled. Soon another man working for the Pitt walked in and pointed at the man with the brass knuckles and Melat telling them to come to the arena. "Melat and Barnin". The announcer yelled. Melat walked to one end of the arena and Barnin stood at the other. Barnin got his brass knuckles out and put them on his hands. "What don't you have a weapon"? Barnin asked. "I do, but I only use it when my opponent has a gun or sword". Melat said. "For you first time spectators, the rules are simple, first one to fall out of pit loses, if anyone dies it is considered fair play, all weapons are allowed, and if the match becomes to boring, refs will throw in one God shard for the competitors to fight for". The announcer said. The two contestants looked at each other, Barnin looking smug and confident, and Melat looking indifferent to his opponent. Soon a loud bell rung as the announcer yelled. "BEGIN".
