About one day earlier under Concrete Pitt, a squadron of three soldiers were at the cave where Melat and his group were previously. They stumbled upon the mining retreat they were in. One soldier wearing the usual Archvil uniform for soldiers stumbled upon a dark red God Shard on the stony ground. he knelt down to pick it up and held it to the other two soldiers. "Hey I found a shard". The soldier said. The leader of the soldiers who wore a gold badge on his uniform walked up to him and snatched it out of his hands. He then closely examined the color of the shard. The shard was dark red and had a ominous black center in the middle of it. "Well men". The lead soldier said. He then clapped his hands thrice and continued his speech. "We got what we came for, Emperor Pensen's own personal Cosmic Shard". The lead soldier said. "Good thing those idiots wouldn't stop fighting otherwise we wouldn't even have had to destroy the arena and then we wouldn't have found the shard". The other soldier said. "We better get this back to him as soon as possible". The leader said. He then started walking out of the cave as the other two followed.
Melat and his group walked on a dirt road and out in the distance appeared the large towering city which was Archvil. "Hey we're nearly there". Melat said hopefully. The group then walked at a quicker pace eventually getting closer to the front gate. Felren was holding the baskets of fruit, while Vekliv held the water buckets in both of his hands. "Hey Felren what happened to the Under Slugs that were here"? Melat asked curiously. Felren looked very confused all of a sudden. "I don't know, it feels like the entire city should be overrun by now". Felren replied. They then arrived at the front gate entrance to the city. The entrance was a large oak wood door with two Archvil soldiers standing out front. "Alright listen up, no one ask any suspicious questions alright, once we're in the city we'll do some investigating". Felren explained. Everyone else nodded in agreement. They approached the door and the guard on the left held his left hand up. "Halt, state your business for entering. The group of five were all wearing their cloaks with their hoods on as Felren walked forward to explain. "We are a group of travelers and are running low on supplies. We wish to stay a few days in the city, gather some more and perhaps catch up on some well deserved rest". Felren explained. The guard nodded in approval and looked over at the other guard who nodded as well. "Alright then welcome to Archvil". The guard said as he walked over to a lever on his side and the other guard walked over to a lever on his side. The two both pulled the lever at the same time and the two large doors opened. The group of five looked inside the city and all that was visible was a large open street with markets and three to four story high buildings. The group walked in and noticed that the city was very irregular in it's layout. While the other village they were previously at was organized in blocks or quadrants of property, Archvil was composed of curved streets and buildings placed at random locations within the cities walls. They walked through the street ahead and noticed a large stairway leading upward and the buildings on the hill were nicer and larger. Out in the distance on an even higher level was a mansion sized palace. The palace was tall and had large cone shaped roofs on both sides of the palace and a large dome in the center. The palace was manly made of stone and wood and stained glass. The group looked around and saw a three story hotel named "The Archvil manor". They walked in the hotel and saw that the inside was nicer compared to the previous village's hotel. The floors were carpeted with a fine brown paint on the wood and the stairs were small planks of spruce leading up to the next floor. They walked over to the front deskman who had a large smile on his face. "Hello". He said. The group looked astonished at the mans overwhelming sense of glee. "You must be young travelers and are passing through Archvil. Please take the room on the second floor on the left. It's for traveling merchants only so please make yourselves at home". The man said still holding his smile. The group obliged as they suspiciously walked up the stairs and turned left into the next room. Inside were five beds and a large wooden nightstand next to each of them. Each person took their own bed and lied down very comfortably. The beds were wooden as well and had white sheets, fluffy pillows and green blankets. "Ahh this is what I needed". Naytan said lying on his side drifting off to sleep. Vekliv lied down also on his bed and started to drift as well. "I think we all need some sleep". Array said as she lied down as well. "(Yawns) Goodnight". Melat said as he lied down on his stomach and immediately fell asleep. Felren was the only one awake in confusion watching the others sleeping comfortably leaving Felren awake and alert. "Uhh". Felren muttered. His confusion then turned into irritation. "COME ON WAKE UP GUYS REALLY". Felren yelled as everyone jumped up in alarm. "What what's wrong"? Melat asked nervously. "We're here for a reason now lets get to work. And besides it's only uh three o'clock". Felren said looking at the clock above the door. The group then looked at Felren very tiredly. "Alright, tomorrow we'll all split up and search different areas of the city trying to learn some info about the place alright. Then we meet up here at night and discuss our plan for the next day". Felren said. Everyone nodded sleepily. "Where are we even supposed to look, this cities huge". Array said. "Alright we'll make a plan for all of this. I'll check on this level of the city at the barracks and the prison and try to find any clues as to what happened to the Under Slugs. Uh Melat I guess you look in the prisons also and try to find any news also. Naytan and Vekliv you two check out the second level, Naytan try to find your Uncle, so you'll have to go out late at night. You did say that he goes out late at night right"? Felren asked. "Yeah, but how, if he's in the palace then how do I see him"? Naytan asked. "Just say you're delivering food or something I don't know. Anyways Vekliv and Array you check the second level of the city and try to find some clues about the national monuments Melat said his dad destroyed". Felren said. "Now tell me this, what does all of this have to do with these Under Slugs"? Vekliv asked. "If the Under Slug invasion has anything to do with these rumors about Pensen being some sort of cultist bent on summoning the Under Lords then we'll have to check everything suspicious from the burning of national monuments, to Melats's dad rebelling against Pensen, to your uncle working in Pensen's council, to anything regarding to the Under Depths or the Under Lords. It all connects". Felren said. Naytan suddenly looked more awake and interested then ever. "Alright, I get it, I'll leave at about midnight okay"? Naytan said. Felren nodded and grinned at Naytan. "Alright Array and I will leave at about say, seven in the morning". Vekliv said. "Okay and Melat you and I will split up on the lower level, I'll check the prison and barracks, you check the streets". Felren explained. "Okay but, do you think that I could check the prisons"? Melat asked. Felren looked curious at Melat's question. "Uh okay but why"? Felren asked. "If my dads alive, then he's in prison right now, and maybe just maybe he can tell me where my mom is. I wont miss this chance to scold him over the horrible things he's done". Melat said. "Okay sure go ahead. But we leave tomorrow at seven like Vekliv and Array okay"? Felren said. "Yes". Melat said. "Alright lets all get some sleep, you guys deserve it". Felren said. The group then lied down in bed and fell into a deep sleep and awaited for the big day tomorrow.
