Static played on Eve's radio, and she clicked the button to sweeten the frequency.

"Evie." The voice contorted on the radio as Eve climbed the hill. The radio glitched through her headset. "Evie, I am so sorry" the woman's voice sounded shaky as if she had been weeping. "Stop you don't want to see." She pleaded. Eve did not. She continued to climb the hill, though her suit weighed her down and the glass bubble of her suit that her head was inside wasn't being filtered with enough breathable air to keep up her pace, she kept going.
"Please Eve." The woman pleaded through the radio. "I know your still going to see, but you don't want to." Eve was almost at the top of the hill. She could see the dirt that would mark the top. Then she would be able to see what's on the other side. "Evie!" The woman begged over the radio. Then in defeat muttered "stop."
Eve had reached the top of the hill, and it was like her physical body no longer mattered, she couldn't feel herself drop, or cry, but she did. She looked over at the open field of bodies, bloody and still. "Evie." The woman's voice crackled. "I'm so sorry." Eve didn't register.
"Fuck." She whispered and then when her eyes met the silent battlefield again "Fuck." Eve stayed on the ground for a while, her legs wouldn't move. Why wouldn't they move? She lost the energy. The courage. The will. The radio had gone silent and for a while there Eve even wondered if she had switched it off to have silence all to herself.
"He's out there." The crackle returned. Eve was trying to not look at the devastation. She kept her eyes down on the foreign dirt. This other planet that had been her home for years. "You should find him. It'll give you some piece of mind." Using her hands Eve had to drag herself back to her feet. Her legs were numb as she walked down between the bodies. Her footsteps were the only sound for miles. Eve couldn't even wipe her own tears away with the suit on. She walked among the bodies, humans and aliens, all mixed between each other. Hundreds. How would she find him? They were all exactly alike each other now. Dead and one day they would be forgotten by everyone. These bodies were nameless now, no souls inside of them to give them personality.
"Fuck." Eve would whisper very silently as she walked, to calm herself down to distract her from the raw sight of death.
"I've found him." The woman said. "He's about 100 meters from you, turn to your right a bit and keep going forward." Eve took a long time to turn as she walked and then headed straight ahead. The dead humans trapped in suits like hers, and the aliens able to breath the planets air. Eve didn't want to look in front of her. But she raised her eyes. And she saw him. Lying between two humans. Eve bit her lip again. She could see the alien, a handsome carcass, with blood streaked across his face. She dropped to his side, and pushed the humans away from his fragile body.
"I'm sorry." Eve whispered. Her gloved hands stroked his head and his arm. She lifted his empty head and places him on her lap. "I'm so sorry." She cried out. "Fuck, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Fuck. Fuck. I'm sorry." And this time he did not raise his hand and hold her tight and reassure her that everything would be 'hunkey Dorey' he was simply silent. Gone from this world. Gone from all these worlds."Evie. Please. Come back home."
