These are the things, the things we lost
The things we lost in the fire fire fire

Do you understand that we will never be the same again?
Do you understand that we will never be the same again?
The future's in our hands and we will never be the same again
The future's in our hands and we will never be the same again

Things We Lost In The Fire, Bastille (Bad Blood)

There he was.

Black scruffy hair, his stormy grey eyes, mouth twisted into a smirk.

Gray Wilkinson stood in front of her, his cold eyes calculating her movements. Kat took her eyes off him and faced her parents.

"Kat, what are you doing here?" her mother looked shocked.

"Ruby convinced me to come." Kat replied coldly.

"That's fantastic, we'll discuss everything later. In the meantime this is Gray. He will be staying with us from now on" Her father put his arm around Gray, making him look very uncomfortable.

Kat lifted her arm with a tight smile and walked towards Gray. He looked at her hand suspiciously before shaking it. She shot him an innocent smile before grabbing hold of his hand and flipping him onto the ground. He landed on the wooden floor with a loud crash; Kat placed her knee on Gray's chest.

"Kat! What are you doing?" Her father yelled.

"Gray Wilkinson is a wanted fugitive of C.A.N.D.I.E." Kat heard Ruby's voice from behind.

"On what charges?" Kat's mother asked, looking outraged.

"Attempted murder, acts of terrorism, manslaughter, assault and more." Brad summarised.

"Kat. Can you please get your knee of my chest so we can talk about this like civilised people?" Gray smirked at her.

"How did you get out?" Scott asked.

"You know, I'm personally offended you have to ask." Gray stated overdramatically.

"Doesn't matter, this time I'm going to personally escort you to a jail cell I know you can't escape from" Kat spat.

"Sweetheart, you don't want to that" Gray smiled.

"And why not?" she asked.

"Because Gray is part of the royal family and now has diplomatic immunity" Kat's father interrupted.

"Now Kat, can you please let your cousin go." Kat's mother ordered.

Kat slowly got up and pushed through her parents. She ran down the stairs, ran away from the stares of her parents, of Gray, of Scott and the others. She ran through the bustling workers in the castle. She twisted through the winding staircases, empty halls and narrow corridors until she found the back door. She had to see something, something that was more important than anything else.

There was a cobblestone pathway leading down a hill. Kat walked until she was surrounded by a faint mist. She was standing alone, in a small empty field that was surrounded by pine trees. In front of her was a bronze plaque. It was attached to a block of marble, surrounded by flowers. She knelt at the grave, her face buried in her hands. Drops of tears fell to the ground staining the beautiful flowers.

"It's you and me Kat, we're a team"

It was those words, those words that haunted Kat for the years to come. Those words that she remembered very clearly. A reminder of her brother. The boy who left and never came back.

Why did you have to leave? Why couldn't you let me be happy? She asked the grave.

"In loving memory of Prince Thomas Starling and Sir Arthur Williams" The plaque read.

At least they're together.
