(Age 5):
He came to me on the night of my 5'th birthday. Dad, he was gone. Mom, she was dead, but this wasn't the first time I was left alone on my birthday. Dad said he had business to take care of, and he wouldn't be able to spend my birthday with me this year. What kind of father tells his daughter that on her 5'th birthday? My father that's who. It wasn't strange at all when I didn't protest, because I was use to dad leaving me by myself at all hours of the night. Growing up when he was gone, I had to care of my self. This was my reality, but I wanted a chance to dream for a change. I guess I got my wish when I saw him.
The first thing that caught my attention was his appearance. People always described the Devil as looking like a creature not fit for this world, a demon. Horns like a ram, hooves like a horse, yellow menacing eyes, a cold aura, skin red as the hate brewing in all of us, but most importantly evil. Instead, the person standing 2 feet away from me was the complete opposite. He was....handsome. He looked like a human with porcelain tanned skin, white/grayish hair, bright green eyes, and the weird thing about all of this was the smile planted on his face. Was this man really the Devil?
"It's nice to finally meet you, Michikosama." He walks towards the foot of my bed. I pulled my cover closer to my chest, afraid.
"H-how do you know my name?" I asked.
"I am the Devil. I know everyone's name." He states, and it dawns on me that the man standing a few feet away has made it known he was the most hated and ominous creature that existed, Satan.
"Why are you here?" I was curious about his sudden appearance in my room.
The smile on his face disappears, and he sits on my bed. "I came to kill you." His voice went cold. My body shook with fear, and trembled before this supernatural creature. "Don't worry." His smile resurface. "I changed my mind about killing you."
His words didn't comfort me at all, but somehow I believed he wouldn't. Letting my guard down, I got from under the cover, sitting on my knees. "Why not?" I questioned, not trembling anymore. I was just curious about his motive and the warmth radiating off of him. Wasn't the Devil suppose to have a cold aura?
"Do you want me to kill you?" He asks, in a calm voice. I shake my head no. He gets up from the foot of my bed, walking closer to me that he is now standing in front of me. He bends down, placing a kiss on my forehead, and it burns. I don't back away, though. I just endure the pain. "To be honest you remind me of someone that was special to me, and that certain someone would never forgive me if I did end up killing you." He smiles at me, but I can hear the sadness in his voice. I wanted to ask who was the special someone, but I didn't.
5 minutes into silence he spoke again. "Since I spared your life you have to become my servant, and bare my child." You could tell I wasn't like any other 5 year old, because I didn't object to his demand. I don't know what it was about him, but I felt sad for him. Everyone depicted him as some kind of monster, but in reality he was just like a human.
They said the Devil is everything you desire, and that was the only truth to his existence which is why I made a deal with him. "I'll serve you, and bare your child in exchange for love." I state, standing up on my bed, so I towered over him. His sudden outburst of laughter sends me flying back against the wall. What was funny to him?
"Fine." His laughter ceased, and there was yet again another silent session. "It's time for me to go." He broke the silence. My face drops at his words.
"Will you come back?"
"Would you like that?" He asks, and I nod. I wanted to know more about the Devil, and not from the books that was fed to me my whole life. I wanted the truth.
He places his hands on the top of my head, kneeling down. "I'll come back." He says, kissing my forehead again, and the burning sensation quickly follows after. He smiles, and that is when I notice the black floating hole in my room. I watched as he descends into it, but not without him telling me his name. "I'm Ruben." He says, and the hole closes. After he's gone all the question I been wanting to ask comes to mind, but all my focus is solely on one. What have I done? I just committed the ultimate sin of a lifetime. I made a deal with the Devil.
