It's cold. Not a warmth in sight in this Mountain Of bones, but occasionally there's a meowing sound spreading thick in the air of this misty place. Why would 2 dogs guard a cat? That is unheard of. Ruben doesn't seem suspicious or affected. I guess I don't need to be either. My strength is recovering slowly, but surely. I'm standing close to Ruben for support in case I feel the energy being drained from me. I don't want my condition to be problematic for Ruben even though it already has.

The position we are in I have taken advantage of it. Ruben and I have only been this close only two times in my life. When I was crying my eyes out over my father death and when I was 13. I noticed we are only ever this closer when I am in dire need of consoling or when he has the urge to surprise with a kiss. I touched my lips remembering my 13 year old self, and Ruben lips on mine. It was wrong, but It didn't seem like that to me. It felt refreshing almost like it was supposed to happen. We never spoke of that day, and Ruben made sure that we didn't. He doesn't stand as close to me anymore or try to embrace me into a hug. It's like he's afraid that day might repeat itself. Which is confusing as to when I cried in his chest moments or when I was on his back. He didn't push me away. I hadn't ask him why, because like now I feel warm whenever I am around him. Yes it's true that I love Ruben, but sometimes I wonder if he loves me back. That kiss wasn't validation. I wanted something more, but I don't know if it could put into words.

"What has you so deep in your thoughts?" Ruben looks down at me, raising his eyebrows. I shake my head. He need not to worry about my thoughts about 3 years ago. Ruben smiles at me, focusing his attention a head, and I follow.

"Meow!" We hear the meow's again, but this time we had an exact location of where it was coming from. It comes from behind a door that is glowing brightly as blue mist surrounds it. My heart beats faster than usual like something is calling out to it. I take this as signal that my demonic power lies behind that door, and Ruben notices. We opened the door, a gust of chilling air breezes past us, making my hair blow in the opposite direction. Being unaffected by the power of the wind of mist I walked in, and Ruben follows my lead. The doors closes behind us.

"Meow! Meooooowww!" The meow's continues, and it was voiced by a huge demon cat with two tails.

"A cat with two tails?"

"It's a Nekomata."

"A Nekomata?"

"A demon cat who once reaches an ancient age grows two tails." Ruben says.

"Wow!" I state in awe at the cat who looked similar to a Maine coone, but with an extra tail. "It's cute." I run towards it, because there was nothing to be afraid of. Even though it was big it was just a cat.

"Michikosama!" Ruben yells, and that's when I noticed the cat swatting its paws my way. I quickly jumped out of the way, catching my breath. That was unexpecting.

"That Nekomata is you dad partner he ordered to protect your demon powers."

"Ah- why did dad have to be so cautious?" I whined. My heart pulse, and I could feel something behind the huge cat pulsating.

"What's that?" Ruben points to my book bag with the ball of yarn hanging out. Good thing I packed this for this unusual situation. "Thanks for pointing that out." I say to Ruben.

"What do you me-"

I cut Ruben off as I called out to the Cat trying to get it's attention solely on me. "Here kitty kitty kitty!" I wave the ball of yarn in the air, and once the cat attention was on me I threw the ball. "Go get it!" The cat lunges towards the ball of yarn, making the ground shake underneath us. Seeing as this was my only chance I ran to where the cat was previously stationed, and my heart was calling out to something. What? I soon found out what my heart has been going crazy over as I climbed the last few stairs. A sword, with a flow of blue mist radiating from it. This is when I realize the coldness of the atmosphere came from this object. I was scared of it.

"Michikosama what are you waiting for? Grab it!" I hear Ruben in the background, but I'm afraid to touch it. I'm afraid i'll lose all ties with the warmth I so desperately try to keep.

"I'm scared." I state, backing away.

"Don't be scared I'm right here." Ruben says. I turned to look behind him, seeing the sincerity in his face. Yes. Ruben said he would never leave me, and I should trust him and take his words more seriously. I nod, and Ruben smiles at me reassuringly. My hand inches it's way to the mysterious sword, and before I knew it, I made contact with the handle gripping it. All of my energy was replenished, and the blue mist began to make its way into my body. I felt nothing. Nothing, but coolness. Like my inside was being turned to ice, and my heart was no exception to that feeling.

From the side of my eyes, I can see the cat has stopped playing with ball of Yarn, and is now looking in my direction. This feelings is strange. Once the blue mist is finished invading my body, I stand still.

"Michikosama?" Ruben calls out. I ignore him, seeing my body is now cover in this blue mist just like the sword once was. I can feel my k-9 teeth being elongated. Something grew out of the side of my head. My nails turned into claws, and my ears came to a point. Just as the energy flowed into me it left me just as as fast, and blackness welcomed me.

(Somewhere in the depths of Hell...)

"That half demon is here, in Hell." The Gamaji spoke. "And, I suspect she is trying to reach her powers Lucifer sealed away."

"That's fine."

"Huh-"

"I want to see how much power she possesses." The bald man, stroked his beard in anticipation.
