Finding my Truth

Chapter 5: Unnerving

      The hospital is so boring. I've been sitting here listening to Kiba and Naruto argue for the past 10 minutes about who could protect me best. All the while the two teams that were in my room listened with various levels of annoyance or indifference. Finally as they were just about screaming at each other I snapped.

      "Naruto! Kiba! Unless you really want to piss me off, SHUT UP! Besides, I can take care of myself." I snarled the humbled the last part looking awaysl as Naruto coward behind Sakura looking pale.

      Kiba jumped in surprise and looked at me wide eyed.

      "Thank you." I said rubbing my temple as the people in the room watched me carefully.

      "Um, Andi. If you don't mind me asking, what happened? Why are you in this condition?" Sakura asked stepping forward and placing a hand on the edge of my bed.

      I sighed and looked at her forcing a small smile to appear on my lips.

      "It's okay, the people here have just lost so much from the destruction caused by my clan. They fear I will follow in the footsteps of my ancestors." I said and a single tear slipped from my left eye and I looked to the side hoping to hide it but I knew it was too late.

      The sadness they felt for me was something I never wanted.

      "Please be happy. I don't want you guys to be sad for my sake. Use that sadness when someone has died or lost, not on a girl who has to come to terms with the crimes of her family." I said and looking at them after wiping the tear away.

      "Anyway, who is on your team Kiba? I remember seeing them in Lord Hokage's office this morning." I said trying to change the subject and Sakura gave me a subtle look that said she didn't like how I did that. Saddle narrowed his eyes since he knew that I knew who they were and Naruto crossed his arms with a pouty lip as he watched.

      "Oh, this is Hinata Huuga and that is Shino Aburame." Kiba said as he pointed to each of them in turn.

      Hinata blushed a little and looked at me with a small smile and Shino just gave a slight dip of his head in acknowledgement. That's when I felt something fly onto my head. Knowing it was one of Shino's beetles, I raised my hand and gently placed my finger upfront of it and it crawled onto my finger. Bringing my hand down to eye level, I inspect the beetle with a smile.

      "I believe this is your beetle." I said holding out my hand with the beetle to Shino. He said nothing but he held his hand out and the beetle went back to him. There was silence in the room as everyone absorbed what just happened.

      "What the hell?!" Naruto shouted bouncing as he pointed between Shino and me. "What was that about?!"

      Just as I was about to snap at him for being loud, I froze feeling a presence and looked at the door eyebrow raised.

      "What bring you here Lord Hokage?" I asked and a small chuckle came through the door as the owner of the voice stepped into the room. Everyone looked at the him in surprise and I chuckled at their faces.

      "Nice to see you're doing better child." he said with a playful glint in his eyes as he looked over at me sitting up in bed with everyone crowded into the room.

      "Though I now must apologize on behalf of those who did this. They have been detained by Guy and his team as they were the ones who saw your attackers." he said looking at me calmly but I felt the disappointment and sadness he felt.
