As Lana ran, she stumbled and tripped over her own two feet, sending both of them crashing to the ground. The creature regained its footing quickly, but Lana wasn't so lucky. She was busy cringing in agony from the dirt and rocks that had gotten into her oozing gash. Her hand was covered in blood and it was now welling up and slipping through her fingers. Dripping to the ground below. The creature hoisted Lana to her feet without even pausing to see if she was okay, then continued to run. Despite the pain she was in, Lana followed. Not wanting to find out what those beasts had in store for her. Lana glanced over her shoulder, then looked back to the front abruptly. Scared out of her mind. They were gaining on them. Fast. The lightning creatures were slithering forwards in a synchronized fashion, each move mirrored perfectly by the others. Lana gulped, then felt herself being thrown forwards almost with a swing of the little creature's arm. They were now running side by side.
"Pick up your feet, human!" It snapped, "Do you want to be ripped to shreds and fed to those idiots?!"
"Fudge no!" Lana cried, her voice flooded with pain.
Lana thought she saw the creature smile underneath its hood. "Good."
The creature looked over its shoulder, then back up at Lana. Lana stared back. Then without warning, it stopped. Dead in its tracks.
"What are you doing!?" Lana cried, "Do YOU want to be eaten!?"
"There's no use." It muttered.
"What?!"
"There's no use! They'll catch up to us at the edge, so we'll have to fight one way or another!"
"FIGHT!? EDGE!? WHAT!?"
It didn't respond. It didn't have time. As soon as Lana finished speaking, the lighting creatures were on top of them. Claws outstretched. Ready to hack them into slices. Lana's heart sped up ten fold. Her breathing becoming quick and erratic. How in the world were they gonna fight? As if answering her silent question, the creature at her side crouched down into an attack position. Lana looked down at it. It was puny compared to them. Did it honestly think they could win this?
Without warning, it shot forward at high speed. And, to Lana's amazement, its fists started glowing. Dark purple fire had burst to life on its clenched hands. Flickering and dancing. Its glow cast over the creature's body. The first lighting creature slashed at it, but it jumped at the last second. The lighting creature's eyes widened. It was perched on the creature's massive hand. A smirk spread across It's face as it slammed its fist into the lighting creature's face. The lighting creature was thrown back, crashing to the ground. It jumped, doing a backflip in the air, and landed in a spiderman-like pose. The other two lightning creatures exchanged a look, then charged forwards. The one that had been punched sat up, starts spinning around its head. As the lightning creature's hacked and slashed, but It dodged with ease. As if this were a child's game. Lana just watched in awe. It seemed like It was toying with them now. Not even trying to fight anymore. Though, with every flurry of attacks, It seemed to slow down. Grow tired of this game. Finally, It attacked back. Fists blazing. He punched one of them across the face, sending it stumbling to the side, then narrowly dodged an attack from the other that would have had its head flying off of its shoulders.
"YOU COULD BE HELPING, YA'KNOW!" It yelled, slamming the other one in the gut with a swift kick.
Lana snapped out of her awe induced trance as the words hit her ears. She was having a hard enough time comprehending all that was going on here, on top of the fact that this wasn't all just in her mind. What could she possibly do to help? All three of the lightning creatures were attacking now. Slash after slash. Hack after hack. Lana noticed It was starting to actually get hurt. Cuts of all depths and sizes covered its arms and parts of its face.
