Two people who are as compatible as much they are different is a rather rare happening, especially when both parties are desiring no romantic interaction with the other. James and Joan had no expectations of each other, both allowed the other to perform at their best and when their best wasn't quite good enough for the job there was no anger or tension between them. Silently, the other would simply alter the work till it turned from average to magical. Now, this was only a regular occurrence for their mundane jobs, James worked as a veterinarian and Joan worked as a lawyer. To the naked eye they are the best in their fields but without the other they would be just, average.
James and Joan owned a house together, both having high paying jobs, James managed to build his own clinic near their home three years after they moved to Canada. James being from England and Joan being from North Carolina, they both had very different upbringings but the differences were seen more as adorable quirks more than a nuisance. James was three years older than Joan although at first sight you would think they were the same age but in some situations you'll see James harden a lot quicker, not giving out second chances or offering his time of day once you betray his trust, no matter how sorry you are. Joan is similar but she will allow you to try and redeem yourself. James to his enemies is seen as a harsh and unemotional man when he is in fact the opposite. To anyone that knows him, knows he is a warm and comforting man, his exterior never matching his interior. Joan was similar, she looked as though she had thunder storms in her eyes but, really, she held a dozen galaxies in them, she was intimidatingly beautiful and surprisingly to most, she had the most beautiful soul anyone had witnessed. The reason why Joan dealt with the vampire and James with werewolves was all down to there personalities, Joan being able to silence anyone with one look but then enticing them with her words were compatible dealing with vampires and James being more compatible with werewolves because of his warmth and harsh exterior. Both well known in their creatures of choice, some coming to seek help protecting their pack/coven, others to seek out spells, but all leaving very content.
Joan was angelic to put it in simple words, every feature looked like it had been handcraft by God. Her eyes are the color of whiskey when the sun hits the glass at just the right angle and she wore thick black glasses that magnified them so you were sure to be trapped staring at them, her hair was a stunning arctic blue that fell down her back reaching just above her hips. James wasn't beautiful or handsome but his eyes were the picture of pure nature, and he was covered in moles and freckles. His hair, short and ginger.
Their house, were they handled supernatural business was always very warm and smelling of cinnamon (thanks to James cooking a serenity spell all the time), whoever walked in would smell home, comfort and warmth. Constantly having their interesting clients calm because of this was a bonus seeing as it helped Joan and James find the source of the problem without anyone turning or smashing their much loved furniture to dust. But having that kind of environment did mean they got a lot of clients coming back to 'update' them along with getting James famous home made tea, not that they minded, the company was enjoyable for all parties involved.
The saddest thing about being the warmth and comfort like the place you live in, is clients turned friends telling them; 'Cause you feel like home, and I've never known what home felt like til you,' when asked why they were so reluctant to leave them.
