I am sooooo sorry this is late! My mom had to go down to Loveland for something and we ended up shopping down in the outlet malls. But it's here now, so don't hit me with food!

My hand brushed the dry grass the next day. The sun was already high in the sky as I sat up. I rolled off the bed and rose up to look around.

The first thing I saw was Leo running from several other children. I stepped lightly across over towards the children who were waving sticks as they chased the smallest one.

Changing my speed, I sprinted ahead and grabbed Leo. He squirmed for a second before he realized how had him. “Hunter Farron!” He exclaimed gleefully. The other boys froze where they were, jaws dropping in amazement.

“Are you alright?”

“Yes sir.” I placed Leo back on the ground before turning to face the others. “And what were you planning to do once he fell?”

The boys were silent, knees shaking. “Humph. A generation of cowards.” I mumbled under my breath.

“You’re not really a Hunter!” One of the boys pointed an accusing finger at me before shying back into the line of boys.

I looked at the row and smirked. “I’m not?” They all nodded, as to not give away the perpetrator. “And what makes me not a Hunter?”

The list was made; Hunters are strong, fast, have a great intellect, are observers, magicans, warriors and knights.

“You forgot that we’re assassins.” I added, looking down at these boys. “Even though I don’t need to prove myself to worthless children like you, I have already shown my strength and speed.”

I leaned in, a dangerous smile on my face. “Do I need to show you something more?”

Their head shook as well as their knees. “Run.” I ordered harshly. They took off towards to the village while Leo and I stood watching. With grass crunching under foot, Leo took off waving as he went to his home.

I packed my things swiftly. I couldn’t stay in Redio now that the boys knew. Word would spread very quickly and I can’t stand the people who think Hunters are gods.

I sound a shrill whistle throughout the flatland area. A horse whinnied in response and I could see him running towards me. His large black body, though intimidating to others, was a welcome sight. His icy eyes stared at me with love and affection.

He pushed my hand onto his head. “I missed you too, Soul.” I rubbed his neck. Out of all the fast breeds of horses I could’ve chosen, I picked the largest and most awe striking out of the hundreds. Soul and I had been together since before I was a Hunter, and unlike many of my allies’ horses, he didn’t run in fear in those monsters’ presence.

“Let’s go, boy.” I tied down my equipment, keeping my sword and dagger on my waist. With a jump I landed on my faithful friend’s back and began riding. Sparro was to the south, and if I wanted to be there before noon I had to go than.

The ride was dull, with a few breaks so Soul could rest and eat. Most of the way to Sparro was sandy beaches and boring flatlands. As I penetrated the forest surrounding the city, a feeling of unease settled in my stomach. I encouraged Soul to move faster. I didn’t want any surprises.
