“Oh my god. I feels so nice to sit down,” I sighed, sliding into a chair.
“I bet, you’ve had a long day,” Robert teased. His shirt was unbuttoned and his jacket was slung over the back of his chair.
“I still can’t believe it,” I smiled, filled with utter happiness and love. The ring on my finger sparkled in the light coming from the reception hall. I glanced over at Conner, talking to his parents. They looked so proud.
“So did you find anyone interesting to talk to?” I asked Robert.
‘Well, Stacie is pretty interesting,” he replied, looking a few tables over to where my friend was. She was laughing, her whole face lighting up. She looked so beautiful in her Maid of Honor dress.
“Oh? So now you’re friend cheating on me? What kind of Best Man friend cheats during a wedding?” I teased, thinking back to when we first became friends.
“I already told you Les, you’re not my type. Now Stacie on the other hand...” he smirked.
“That’s fine. I’m friend cheating on you with Simon and Conner,” I smiled.
“I think you just broke my heart.”
“Don’t worry. Stacie can fix it.”
“That she can, that she can.”
“What are you still doing here? Go! Make your move before someone else does,” I said.
“You’re sure you’ll be ok here? I don’t want to leave you alone at your own wedding,” he said hesitantly.
“Oh please. I can take care of myself. Now go. Have fun, you crazy kid,” I teased, pushing his shoulder affectionately. He laughed and gave me a quick hug before walking over to Stacie. The moment she saw him, she broke into a huge smile. I think we may have another wedding soon.
“Hey Les,” Simon said, sitting down next to me. “How are you doing?”
“I’m just dandy, how about you?”
“I’m pretty spiffy myself. Where’s Conner?”
“Right here,” a voice replied behind us. I turned to see my best friend smiling at me.
“Hey C.”
“Hey L,” he said, giving me a quick kiss. All of a sudden, the music changed.
“Will you go to the prom with me?” the music played. Of course we had the song play at our reception. It was the song that brought us together in the first place.
“Simon, may I steal my bride? This is our song,” Conner asked.
“Of course, have fun you newly-weds,” Simon laughed.
“Oh, we will,” I answered before taking my husband’s hand and following him to the dance floor.
“I’m so glad you went to the prom with me,” he whispered.
“Me too,” I whispered back. We danced and danced, and danced and danced, and danced and danced. Best wedding ever.
