Gabriel
I groaned as I saw the light come into my window.
Why does heaven have to be so bright? My wolf, Blitz groaned.
I don't know. I responded.
I then heard a knock at my door. "Gabe, it's Michael. You alright."
Crap. I thought. Even after six-thousand years in heaven, I still forgets that regular angels don't need sleep.
"One second, Mike." I yelled back.
I pulled on my dark jeans and a white tee (no angels don't actually have to dress in that weird toga stuff you see in the bible, that's just for battle) and opened the door.
There stood my best friend, Michael Augustus. "What's up dude." He asked, seeing that my hair was all messed up.
"Nothing. I was just chilling out. How about you?"
"I just finished patrol on the gates. Raph sent me to tell you it's your shift."
Raph is another archangel, like Michael and I, his named actually Raphael, but that's just a mouthful.
I sighed, still tired from my nap. "Alright. Which post am I at today?"
"North." Mike said, still looking at me a little funny. "Although, you may wanna fix your hair before you go out there."
"Ok. I'll meet you there in like five minutes." I said slowly shutting the door.
Once it was shut, I ran to my bathroom to grab my brush. I did my best at brushing my short golden hair, then ran out the door and jumped into the air.
As I was about to fall, my pure white wings sprouted and I glided into the sky. The view was great from up here. You could see God's castle, the whole border of heaven, and down into earth.
I just glided until I got to the North Post and landed on the wall. Michael was already there waiting for me.
"You seem oddly happy today, Gabe." He said looking at me weirdly.
He was right. Today, I felt like something really good was gonna happen to me. I don't know what yet, but Blitz also seemed excited for today.
I just decided to shrug at Michael. "Have fun on your break Mike." I said, hoping for him to leave.
He looked at me weirdly but did leave, jumping off the wall. I sighed and sat down.
A different voice then came into my head. Keeping secrets isn't a good thing to do in heaven Gabriel. God said. He was the only one in heaven that knew about him being a werewolf.
Werewolves weren't even supposed to go to this heaven. They were supposed to go to the Underworld and be judged there by the old Greek geizers who lived there. But Lady Artemis, who had made him into a werewolf, the first werewolf actually, like before people were even in Greece yet, had felt as though he belonged in this heaven and not underground.
She had made a deal with God about him staying here. The deal was that he couldn't tell anyone about himself, since the people here didn't believe in the Greek gods and so if they did they'd be sent to the Underworld. And since I was a part of Greek mythology, just not that famous of a Greek myth, people couldn't know about me.
"You're the one who's making me keep secrets God." I responded to him out loud.
He laughed. Yes, because that was our deal.
"Yeah, but can't I just tell Michael? I mean he is my best friend. He wouldn't tell anyone." It was true. Michael took secrets literally. He wouldn't tell anyone.
No, my child. Michael is not a part of the deal. He believes only in me and that's how it should stay. Or else he would have to leave heaven. God said in a balanced voice.
"Oh." That shut me up.
After my nice little conversation with God, nothing happened at my post. So all I really did was talk to Blitz about random shit.
Finally, my shift was over and I was starving and tired.
Why do I have to still eat and sleep? I'm dead. Blitz I blame you. I growled at him.
Sorry buddy, but I have no clue either. He responded.
I didn't really feel like going out on the town with Michael tonight, like we had last night, so I instead just walked home and passed out on my bed.
I didn't understand why I had expected anything good to happen today. It had been the exact same as any other day.
I sighed and let the darkness behind my eyelids take over and I fell asleep.
