Pronounced SA~WIN, Samhain or known as summers end (end of the year) is when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest. It's celebrated with bonfires, feasting, seasonal imagery (decorating), ancestors altars (pictures of your love deceased ones on your altar), reflection on the year, divination for guidance.

Symbols of Samhain:
Gourds, Apple, Black cats, Jack~O~lanterns and Besom.

Herbs of Samhain:
Mugwort, allspice, Broom, catnip, deadly nightshade, Mandrake, Oak leaves, Sage & Straw.

Inscents of Samhain:
Heliotrope, Mint & Nutmeg.

Colours of Samhain:
Black, Orange, White, Silver & Gold.

Stones of Samhain:
All black stones, preferably Jet or Obsidian.

Celebration:
An extra plate is prepared at the dinner table as well as an extra seat for loved ones. After dinner the plate is placed outside to feed wondering spirits (modern time; place candy out side for children in a bowl if you wish).
Pumpkins used to be turnips carved with scary faces, it was believed if the flames flickers a spirit is present. So carve some scary pumpkins this year!
Wear orange and black they are sacred colours ( orange ~ pumpkin, black ~ darkness)
