Iscariot sat down at the dinner table. She waved her bony fingers as Lycaon walked out of the dinning room. "Bye, Ly," she sung.
Izzy studied Kate, who watched Lycaon leave. The she-demon's grin widened.
"Kate," Izzy said, holding the bedroom door open for Kate. "I'm sorry for my behavior before." She wasn't. "I spoke with Aesc and I see my faults." Though she had to give him a report, she fudged it and did not get scolded. Perks of having Kate ignore Aesc. "I hope that we can maybe even be friends." She didn't.
Kate's eyes narrowed at the she-demon. "I accept your apology. I don't think I was very gracious either." Her expression soften, and Izzy smiled.
When Kate got into bed, the demon even wished her a "Good night." And when Kate rose in the morning, she was greeted with a friendly "Good morning." Followed by, "I called Aesc last night after you had gone to bed. I hope you do not mind, but I was hoping to actually spend more time with you. I'll watch over you today, then Lycaon will return tonight and tomorrow. And if you still do not enjoy my company, the original shifts will revert back where I am with you only while you sleep. But, I admit I hope that doesn't happen."
"You really are very straightforward..." Kate mumbled groggily, rubbing her eyes. It wasn't until half way through her shower when she was fully awake and realized what had been done. She groaned. "Oh, God."
"Kate...do you really not like me?" Izzy inquired.
Kate felt an overwhelming sense of guilt wash over her. "I-I...It's not that-"
"It's okay," Izzy murmured. "It's Hell. It's not like it's the first time. Honestly, though, I thought I had found someone I could be myself around. I know I said I don't care and I just do whatever, but even I'm afraid of the consequences of my actions. I'm scared, but I can't help it when I push the boundaries. It's in my nature. Do you know what I mean?"
Kate nodded sullenly, ashamed. "Yeah, I used to have a friend like that, very bold."
Izzy smiled and relief washed over her face. "So you do! I'm so glad you're human!"
Kate only nodded, guilt still holding her back.
"So, what would you like to do? Has Lycaon taken you anywhere other than the libraries and dining rooms?"
"The gyms and the throne room...and almost the dance rooms, I think."
Izzy's eyes sparkled. Kate assumed it was because of the mention of the dance rooms.
"You like to dance?" Kate asked, hopeful.
"Love to!"
Kate felt a rush of excitement. "Would you teach me the waltz?"
Izzy was stunned. "The waltz? Well, I could, but the clubs are much more fun. And they run twenty-four-seven!"
Kate shook her head. "I've never been one to-"
"It will be fun! At least give it a try-and if you don't like it, then we can leave."
Kate thought for a few minutes, going back and forth, thinking about what Izzy said. She sighed, knowing she'd caved. "Okay. But you have to stay with me and we have to leave as soon as I say."
