A Fairy Tale Of Violence
Chapter three
I woke and we were still walking. The red skin was now green and the grass now pink. The leaves were red and the trunks were turquoise. I sighed softly; glad to still feel Avackner's arms around me.
"Awake are we?" he said softly.
I nodded. "Can i try walking?" i asked in a low voice, half wishing he said no.
"Why, don't like me holding you?" he said in a light voice.
"No," i shook my head slowly. "Actually i like it a bit too much."
He looked down at me and a smiled curled around his lips. "Glad."
I smiled back. "It's just i want to walk some of the way and i want to see if i can still fly or not." I watched his face as i spoke.
I saw it in his eyes instantly that he wasn't going to let me.
"You think I'm going to flee." I said, hurt by this, the pain sharp and quick.
He shook his head quickly. "No, it's just..." it was the hesitation that told me he was lying. "You might be in danger if you try to fly or walk about, we might need to escape quickly."
I nodded slowly and kept my eyes down.
"But! We will be setting up camp soon, so you feel free to walk then."
I beamed up at him. "Thank you." Without thinking, i pushed myself up slightly and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek, then slumped back down. He looked down at me and his eyes seemed to twinkle.
Then i just rested my head against his shoulder and waiting, watching the scenery fly by as we moved.
Soon we came to a large pond, the water was silver and shined, and I could see small quicksilver fairy's zooming around, cleaning and singing. They were white, almost silver and shinning, almost glowing. They had dark blue eyes and were the size of my middle finger and all wore pretty dresses and had beautiful silver wings that actually dropped sparkles as it flew. The grass here was short, well kept; most likely by the fairies themselves, it was also dyed purple. There were no trees, but there was a cave, a very large one. One of the Asena's ran into it, probably to check out who lived there. Avackner put me down by the pond. A fairy fluttered towards me and stopped midflight. I looked at myself and realised i was glowing. I held out a hand to the fairy.
"hello." I said softly.
She sat in the palm of my hand and began tracing patterns, gently, making my hand tingle slightly. I smiled at the fairy and i could see it smiling back. Suddenly more seemed to notice - and they all flew at me. They clung to me, snuggled against my glowing skin, the material of my dress, my hair. I lay back gently and they all made a humming noise, a noise of happiness.
"wow." Came a low voice.
I turned to see a troll, watching with intrest. None of the Asena had seen him yet, they were all inspecting the cave.
"hello." I said smiling.
Trolls were not what they had been described as. They were short, but they weren't ugly or tricksters. Trolls were small, they always wear bright clothes, their eyes are always white and they are pale with pale lips. They were cute and this one was no exception.
"How do you do that?" he asked.
"What?" i asked confused.
"Well, one, glow and two get all the fairies to cling to you like that!" he looked dazzled.
I raised a finger and curled it twice. "Come here."
The troll was only too happy to obey. Once it was right beside me i reached out a hand and took his small one in mine. His eyes widened. I knew what he would feel.
He would feel my pulse, beating fast. He would hear wings flapping furiously fast. He would smell the ocean and he would taste warmth.
"wow." He repeated.
"Hey!" said Avackner, stalking over looking angry.
The fairys hissed fiercly at him and he came to a halt, thr troll jumped, let og of my hand and clambered over me and hid behind me. i shushed the fairys quickly and they soon settled down.
"what are you doing talking to a troll." He said anfgrily.
"i shall speak to whomever i wish to, you do not control me." i said softly.
"i came here to warn you." Said the troll gravely.
"we don't want your warnings." He snarled.
"don't be rude, Avackner." I said and my lips turned down slightly.
He shot a strange glance at me and his eyes seemed to flash. "why was he touching you."
I could almost feel the waves of hostility that rolled off him. i stood slowly, watching him carefully. He watched me, frowning slightly. I walked across to him, shushing the fairys when they hissed in alarm. I wrapped my arms around his waist and pressed myself against him gently, so he could feel what the troll had felt. I heard his almost silent gasp as he felt it all, at first he was rigid, probably in shock then he relaxed and his arms went around my waist and i closed my eyes, content.
"excuse me." said the troll, his voice quiet.
"what is it?" Avackner said quietly, calmer.
"the council had found out of what you have done, they are searching for you, only twenty four miles from here. When they find you, you and your people will be tourtured and killed painfully." Said the troll, his voice sad.
"crap." Sighed Avackner, i felt his body tense.
"what will happen to her?" he asked.
"she will have her wings clipped as punishment." The troll whispered.
I felt fear ride over me as a memory hit me hard and i felt my warmth slowly fade, te happiness drainging with it. I made a low whimpering noise and begun to cry as fear and pain of lost ones overwhelmed me. i began withering and i fell, the only thing keeping me up were someones arms. i vagualing felt someone shaking me as i covered my hands with my ears to block out the wordm the screams and the shouts that filled me suddenly. The moans and groans of pain, the crying, sobbing and weeping, it wrenched my heart apart. It became too much. I screamed, as loud as i could, letting everything out. Then i just slumped - everything gone.
