Dad,

I got her last letter. I know that it's her last. I knew before I even opened it. Mom told me to go get the mail. Half asleep on a sleepy day in the middle of March, I dragged myself out to the mailbox. I pulled out only a few letters. As I looked through them, in the middle of a bunch of bills and legal work was a letter with no return address. Not even a sending address, just:

Aiden

written in bold loopy lettering. Instantly, I remembered the date. It was March 19th, yesterday was what would have been Olivia's mom's 43rd birthday. I tore open the letter, knowing it was too late. As I read her beautiful handwriting I felt my entire soul sink into my stomach and I fell to the ground, desperate sobs pouring out of me.

I loved her.

Aiden
