We walked back towards the house taking a longer more scenic route through the wooded park.

Before we reached the walk way or jogging track we pressed the button to turn the lights on that illuminates the path.
Half way down the path I could hear crying in the distance in the woodland.
"Babe.." I paused, listening out for the cry once more.
Andy's eyes went wide, as he also realised it wasn't just a cry.

It was a child's.

"Why has someone brought a child out in the cold at this time of night?" I exclaimed looking at my watch, it read 12:57.

"Let's go check" I said letting go of his hand and running into the mist of trees.

I followed the cry until I reached a small baby carrier.
I stood five feet away just incase it was a gang ploy or something else sinister along those lines.
I watched as the cry came from this baby carrier and a small hand reached into the air.
No one was around, no parent or guardian, this child has been abandoned, possibly left for dead..
"Andy..." I whispered as I walked towards the cry, I knelt down and shifted the carrier to face me, I lifted the hood.

A small child no older than a year old looked up at me with teary eyes and reached for me.

I unclasped the small belt and lifted the infant into my arms, I looked down and noticed a small note was on the seat.

I lent down and picked it up, it read,

'Her name is Ava.
She was born 31st October 2015, she's barely a year old.
Her birth certificate is under the chair, I did not place any names on it, not even mine.

I cannot provide for her any longer, nor give her the life she deserves.

Look after her'

I could tell Andy was reading the letter over my shoulder.
"We are taking her in" I said and picked up the certificate and began to walk back to the path

"Are you one hundred percent sure about this? What about when she's older and wants to know who her parents are? Or what about wanting to know what we are?" Andy said with wide eyes.

"We will figure it out as the time comes, besides that I have every intention of being honest with her" I said cooing her in my arms enough to coax her into a sleep.

"There's no going back from this" Andy said wrapping a arm around us.
"I know plus we have baby stuff at home, we can provide for her" I said as we needed the end of the path.

(At home)

"Whoa whoa whoa, where..." Cc said cutting himself off as he was too confused to continue his sentence.

"She was abandoned in the woods" I said handing over the note.

Once Ava was fed and bathed and changed I put her down to sleep and sat in the chair facing her cot as she studied my face almost willing herself to stay awake just to keep looking at me.

Once her eyes became heavy she grinned a toothless grin before falling asleep.

I left the nursery and walked to my and Andy's room, but any was nowhere to be seen, I brushed it off as he was downstairs talking with  one of the guys and fell asleep myself.
