idol!Reader collapses on stage while opening for Seventeen.
---
Seventeen was a group you really looked up to. As a member of a new Pledis group, you were honestly hoping to run into Seventeen, but instead you were always exhausted and worried about your appearance or skills. Seventeen was an inspiration in every aspect. Especially the oldest of the vocal unit, Yoon Jeonghan. He was handsome, talented, confident, hardworking... everything you were trying to be. Everything you wanted in a man too, but that's beside the point. When your group was blessed with the opportunity to open for Seventeen at a concert, you were elated. Every single day for the three weeks leading up to the concert, if not occupied by schedules, you did nothing but practice; even when the other members of your group went back to the dorm to sleep. As a result, you found your health deteriorating.
As you sat backstage before the concert, you felt like you could sleep for a hundred years. You'd taken a bunch of vitamins that morning and actually slept the night before, but that didn't seem to help. Still, you were determined to perform perfectly, and nothing was going to stop you.
Your makeup and hair had already been done, so you slumped against the edge of the couch watching various Seventeen music show performances on your phone. It never ceased to amaze you how organized such a large group could be. Your group made its own songs and dances as well, but you always felt that Seventeen's were so much more magical.
The group's manager came into the room and announced that it was time to start. No news had ever instilled such an exciting, nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach. You put your phone away in your bag and followed everyone to the stage.
"Are you sure you're okay?" the leader of your group asked, "you look really tired..."
"I'm fine," you insisted, "the vitamins I took earlier are working miracles!"
"Just... I talked to the manager and she has a backup performer ready if you need to stop. We're all worried about you."
"I don't need backup, I promise. We're gonna rock this opening!"
They shook their head and patted your shoulder. Soon enough, you all had arrived at the stage doors and waited for the signal to go on. You honestly felt like you were going to die, but nothing was going to stop you from doing anything less than your best.
The doors opened and you walked onto the stage. The crowd cheered as soon as you came into eyeshot, excited to see Pledis's new group. The lights... the screams... it all made you feel very lightheaded. You almost began to rethink your decision, and glanced towards the stage doors at where stood the manager, the backup performer...
And Seventeen. Every single member in all their glory were standing with proud sunbae smiles, and none other than Yoon Jeonghan was standing at the front of the group. The was no way in hell you were going to back out with your idols standing right there. You hadn't actually seen them at the company before because of conflicting schedules, so this was your first and only chance to leave a good impression.
Your thought process was promptly interrupted by the sound of more echoing cheers and the beginning to Shining Diamond, the song your group had the honor of covering, playing. This was it. The intro went on, and you were off.
Your members all handled their parts perfectly, and at the halfway point you felt a strange tingling sensation in your head. No way. You had to finish the song. You were GOING to finish the song. Your part was coming up, Jeonghan's part, and just as it began, you stood up from the kneeling position of the choreography.
Maybe you stood up too quickly, maybe it was because of how nervous you were, or maybe it was the horrible strain you'd put on your body the weeks prior, but that tingling sensation in your head exploded. Before you could react, you felt yourself falling, and the last thing you remembered was a deafening wave of fans' screams, until everything went black.
----
"Y/N... come on, wake up..."
"Is Y/N okay?"
"What happened?"You slowly opened your eyes, your vision blurry and the light blinding you. Your senses slowly came back to you, the most prominent being a pounding headache. As the world around you slowly became visible, you saw your manager, your leader, and... Jeonghan?
"Oh my gosh, you scared us to death!" your leader exclaimed, brushing hair out of your face.
"Nnnng... I'm fine..." you croaked out.
"You are not fine, you fainted and almost fell into a pit in the stage!""Yah, let Y/N breathe for a moment, okay?" your manager said sternly. She put her hand on your leader's shoulder and guided them out of the room.
You sat in silence for a few moments before Jeonghan cleared his throat, snapping you back to the situation at hand. He smiled gently and held your hand, "Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything?" he asked. Blood rushed to your cheeks and despite your layers of stage makeup, you were almost positive that your face was beet red.
"I'm fine, really," you replied quietly, subtly looking the other direction.
Jeonghan patted your hand and let it go, "I hope so. I was worried you'd really hurt yourself..." he trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck.
"You were worried?" you asked, immediately regretting your choice of words.
"Well, yeah..." he began awkwardly, "it really looked like you hurt yourself."
"Ah..."You felt extremely tired and sore, but nothing too major. It was both flattering and embarrassing that he was worried about you, and you sat idly thinking of a reply, but to no avail. He continued speaking, just telling you how the concert went and such and eventually lecturing you on the importance of health. Eventually, your manager and the rest of your group entered the room.
"Jeonghan-ah, thank you for keeping Y/N company," your manager said to him.
"It's no problem, I was very happy to do so," he responded cooly.
"We can take it from here, we'll get Y/N back to the dorm to rest now."
"Alright."Jeonghan turned to you and smiled again, patting your hand once more. He stood up and walked towards the door, and you noticed him brush his hand over the top of your bag, as if putting something into it. Once he left, you turned to your manager.
"Could you please bring me my bag?" you asked. Your manager obliged, bringing it to you and getting distracted by a conversation some of the other members were having
You curiously reached into your bag and pulled out a tiny slip of paper.
"Y/N,
I hope you're okay and that you treat yourself better in the future. It was nice to finally meet you, despite the circumstances~ If you want, we could go get coffee sometime. Text me~ [xxx-xxxx].
Jeonghan"You were left a smiling mess after reading the note, shaking slightly as you slipped it back in the bag. Your group and manager approached you once more, helping you up and walking you out to the van, where you promptly fell asleep. Happily.
