The reader and Chan go on a road trip to Busan.
[For story purposes, Chan is able to drive.]
---
The feeling of the rumbling car was enough to soothe you and put you to sleep, just as well as  the violent slam of rolling over a nasty bump in the road could wake you up. You snapped your eyes open and gasped, not immediately taking in the fact that everything was okay.

"Welcome back to the waking world!" exclaimed a particularly amused Lee Chan from beside you.

You grunted as you sat up, pulling the handle on the side of your seat to lift it back up as well. Observing the landscape rolling by next to you, you assumed that you were about an hour away from Busan, the ultimate destination for yourself and Chan. It wasn't often you could get out with your friend like this, so every moment was intended to be made the most of.

"You come back to your senses yet?" he asked.
"No, I'm still asleep, sorry," you responded with a smile.
"Oh, that's too bad, because if you were awake I would tell you a secret."
"What would the secret that you would tell me if I were awake be?"
"I can't tell you, it's a secret."

Chan was disturbingly amazing at keeping a straight face when playing along with your nonsense, especially when it was as ridiculous as this. You pretended to be asleep for a moment before opening your eyes again and stretching.

"Wow, it's sure nice to be awake! I've never been so awake, I'm just so AWAKE!" you insisted..
"Oh, cool," he said with a flat tone of voice.
"Well? I'm awake..."
"I see that. What are you looking for, breakfast?"
"Don't you have a secret to tell me?"
"No, why would I?"

Your eyebrows shot up in disbelief, only to immediately break Chan's facade after he looked over to you and listen to his laughter pour out.

"Your expressions are the best!" he exclaimed, trying to keep his focus on the road.
"Your lack of expressions in situations like that are even better!" you replied.

The remainder of the drive was filled with your inside jokes, admiring the southeast scenery that South Korea had to offer, and just enjoying eachother's company. As you arrived at the guesthouse you had booked, he parked the car and unexpectedly turned to whisper in your ear.

"The secret is that I'm glad we're friends. You knew that though, yeah?"
