quick side note - I started this story about 7 years ago (when I was 13!) so you will find the content and writing style does change and mature gradually as the story progresses, so please bear that in mind!I have also edited the first ten or so chapters a couple of times, so you may find some of the comments don't match up as the storyline has changed slightly.
thanks for reading! :)

"JAMES YOU ARSEHOLE!" I shrieked, as my brother, James, had snatched my trunk and was running away, cackling. He was weaving in between the crowds of people, and I soon lost sight of him.
My parents came up from behind me, and scolded me for both my language and embarrassing them in front of the whole platform full of people.
"Sorry, Mum, but James stole my trunk!"
"Maisie bloody Potter, just get on the train."
"But -"
"Get. On."
"Bye then," I said, hugging them, before departing to find James on the train.
It was almost like they wanted to get rid of us. I must say, I don't blame them. I am a bit weird, and James is the human embodiment of a sweaty butt. And they have been stuck with us for eleven years. But luckily for them, they will have a nice term-long break, as we are off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
I searched the whole train, and finally found James. He was sitting with two black-haired boys, and a redheaded girl, none of whom I recognised.
"Howdy, bitches." Apparently when faced with strange new people and strange new situations I say stupid things - good to know?
I sat down next to James, and was delighted to find that they were all staring at me. "Don't mind me," I said, trying to regain any dignity I just lost from saying 'howdy'. "Just pretend I'm not here."
"But you are here," the girl pointed out.
"Yes I am," I coughed, and looked down at my lap. "I'm Maisie, by the way."
"I'm Lily. Lily Evans." I saw James staring at her from the corner of my eye, and only just resisted the temptation to roll my eyes. "And this is Severus," Lily gestured to the boy next to her. I nodded at him.
"Yo." Again? Yo? Why do I do this to myself?
He looked at me like I had a disease.
Ignoring me (don't blame him), he turned to Lily, "You'd better be in Slytherin!" Severus said, nudging her. He said in a joking way, but you could sort of tell it really wasn't.
"Slytherin?" frowned James. "Who wants to be in Slytherin? I think I'd leave right there and then, wouldn't you?" he said, turning to the other boy opposite him. I rolled my eyes.
Way to make friends, James - pissing them off.
"My whole family have been in Slytherin," the boy replied.
Exactly my point.
"Blimey," said James, "and I thought you were alright!"
Surprisingly, the boy grinned. "Maybe I'll break the tradition. Where are you heading, if you've got the choice?"
James and I grinned at each other, before simultaneously lifting imaginary swords, and saying, "'Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart!'"
"Just like our dad," I added.
All three of them stared, and I felt my cheeks flush.
"We're twins," I said. "Sorry."
