Chapter 16

Sam's POV

I still don't know the full story on what Balthazar did to Gabe. But that doesn't matter, all I know that he hurt Gabe tremendously. That gets me angry enough to try to get Balthazar back in jail.

The next day I went over to the police station at night and snuck in to get a look at his case file. It may be risky but it's worth it for Gabe. I know, I shouldn't be doing this.

I don't want to see anything that Gabe doesn't want me to know. I feel bad for doing this, but I know I need to know all the facts if I'm going to do something semi-useful.

There wasn't much to see. The case was considered Dead end, so I took a picture of it and read the file quickly.

Case- #1108

Gabriel Novak accused Balthazar of attempted murder and claimed that Balthazar drugged him.

Motive- Gabriel mention that they broke up a couple weeks ago because Balthazar was verbally and physically abusive~ this will not be mention to Gabriel's parents.

Evidence- Balthazar had an alibi that was proven to be true but we search his car and we found the drugs under the back seat. Gabriel said Balthazar drugged him by Denny's. We look at secretary tapes on the date Gabriel claimed to be drugged. We saw a perfect match of Balthazar's car on the tapes but we couldn't see the license plate. We saw figures of 2 people but the tapes didn't get a good view of them so we isn't ache enough evidence to say that those individuals were Gabriel or Balthazar.

Since we found the drugs that put Balthazar in jail for 18 months for possession of illegal drugs. We are still investigating Gabriel's story to see if we could find any other pieces of evidence.

Balthazar will get out in 1 year and 2 months if he shows good behavior.

Update- Balthazar is found non guilty for attempted murder. We will notify Gabriel's parents right away.

What the fuck. Was all I could think in that moment. But granted I couldn't think any longer because I had to get my moose ass out of there before anyone else showed up and I would be the one in jail.

After I did that I went by a nearby park. I needed to clear my head. It was still pretty dark and windy outside but still nice enough that I didn't need to wear a coat or anything.

After I cleared my head I got to thinking. What was I going to do? Technically Balthazar was never charged of attempted murder, but only for possession of drugs? This confused me a whole lot. How did Gabe not known this? This case was about him after all.

It now made sense now why Balthazar was out so early. But nothing else made much  sense.

I know I should tell Gabe right away, about what I know, so he knows everything. But how? He must be pretty stress right now, and I don't want to add any more stress. It will probably be best that for now, I keep this to myself. When the time is right I will tell him.

Since I had nothing better else to do at at the moment I took my attention to the sky.
I've never realized how beautiful the  sky is at night. It feels like I'm the only one in the world outside right now. Well, I am probably the only one outside because who else would stay at a park at 11:30pm at night alone? Probably hobos.

I just sit on a bench and continued to look up at the sky. Thinking about everything but nothing at the same time.
It's like a peaceful and nice break from this stressful world.
Sadly, I'm not the one that deserves that break. Gabe does. And tomorrow I'm going to give it to him.
