I heard the bell ring inside the school building. I didn't even bother to run. There was no point, I was going to make it to class in anyways.

It was another rainy day in the boring, small town of Kushlawn. School was the worst place. I hated it. It's not even that I hated the education part, I just hated the people that thought us and the people that I had to stay in a classroom with.

I'm kind of a loner, if I do say so myself. No one really pays attention to me. Well they do pay attention to me but whenever they do, it's never nice. I just don't un-

Splash!

No. This cannot be happening right now.

"Seriously cheeseburger, don't walk so close to the road!" Ashleigh said as she got out of her red BMW.

"I- you did that on purpose," I said sighing. "Oh God, I just got these new jeans,"

"They make jeans that fit you?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. "I bet you got them from a thrift shop!"

"I didn't," I could feel my face going red. My dad is kind of struggling financially so yes, I did get them from the local thrift store. I don't see what wrong with that, they're still jeans at the end of the day.

"How lame can you get?" She said rolling her eyes as she walked past me and into the school. I sighed as I walked through the school gates and went straight to reception.

"What happened to you?" Mrs. June, the caretaker, asked as she eyed me.

"I got splashed on the way in," I said sheepishly. "Have you got anything I can borrow?"

"Let me check, just wait here," she said half smiling, half frowning. I watched as she left the room and went through a brown door. After about five minutes she came back through the door holding a pair of black leggings.

"I am not going to wear them," I said eyeing them. "No way,"

"That's all I have, the rest are just skirts and shorts and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't wear them," She said handing the leggings to me.

"Can I just go home or something?" I suggested. "I could get some trousers and then come back in,"

"Maddie."

"Yes?"

"Put the leggings on then get to class," she said sternly. I groaned as I stood up and made my way to the girls bathroom. I took my jeans off, folded them and then placed them into my back. I began to squeeze into the leggings afraid that they would rip if I pulled any harder.

"These sure are tight," I mumbled under my breath as I took of my jacket, leaving me in just my jumper and the leggings. I then made my way towards my first class of the day - English.

"You are late Maddie," Mr. Colemaine
said as I walked into the room. Everyone's head turned to look at me at the door.

"I just - I was doing something," I mumbled. I could feel my cheeks turning super red. Please tell me that I don't look like a tomato.

"You can explain yourself at the end of class, go take your seat at the back please," he said. I could hear snickers as I made my way to the back of the class. It was obviously Ashleigh, René and Christina who were finding this so funny.

I sat at the very back on my own everyday. There was no way that I would even try to sit next to one of the other girls or boys. English was my favourite subject. It was the only class where stuff weren't thrown at me because well, I had the back seat to myself.

"When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind. - Dr. Wayne Dyer," I read the quote off the the board. Ashleigh had chosen it as Mr. Colemaine had said.

When was Ashleigh ever kind?

I began to doodle in my note book. I loved art, it let me express myself in many ways and forms and no one could judge it.

Except for Christina.

"Excuse me sir, I'm sorry for interrupting," my head shot up at the sound of Mrs. June's voice. "You have a new student," everyone began "oohing" and "ahhing" while I sat back in silence to see who this new kid was.

"Nice to meet you," Mr. Colemaine said to whoever was outside the door. "I'm Mr. Colemaine, who would you be?"

"I'm Justin," it was a boy. His voice was beautiful, it was as if an angel singing.

"Come on in then," Mr. Colemaine moved back to the centre of the class and in walked the most beautiful guy I have ever laid my eyes on. He walked in and winked towards Ashleigh and her group of friends.

Of course.

Okay so I have never found guys interesting but this, this creature is beautiful!

"Class, this is our new student Justin," Mr. Colemaine said gesturing towards Justin who had a huge smile on his face.

"One of you sit at the back, I need him to sit next to me," Ashleigh whispered to her friends. Of course I could hear them, they were just in the row in front of me.

"Ew, I'm not sitting next to that cheeseburger," Christina replied.

"I don't want to," René said glancing at me apologetically.

"I'll just take the seat at the back," I watched as Justin strolled towards the back of the room towards me.

"Hey, I'm Justin," he said smiling as he scooted into the seat beside me. "and you are?"

"I'm Maddie," I mumbled. My face was tomato red. I could just feel it, I looked like a tomato right now!

"Seriously," Ashleigh muttered as she shot daggers at me with her eyes. "This cannot be happening right now,"
